Wonderful time.
Wonderful time. Beautiful scenery and great local resturants. Make sure to take time and walk around downtown Boone. Visit the campus of Appalachian State University. Take a short drive to Shops on the Parkway in Blowing Rock. Make sure to have lunch or dinner at Pepper's in Boone. You won't be disappointed.Bullock - 10Scored 10

We've been to this area a couple of times over the years,...
We've been to this area a couple of times over the years, and tend to go back as we really like the area. It is close to an entrance for the Blue Ridge Parkway, with an overlook just a few minutes down the road. The restaurants are good, but Dan'l Boone Inn is an absolute must every time we are in the area. There are plenty of small hiking trails, and waterfalls, to see.AAnonymous - 6.0Scored 6.0
There isn't much to review.
There isn't much to review. I made a reservation at the Holiday Inn because they had an indoor pool, and brought a 12-year old up so we could swim and have a good time. However, when we arrived, the hotel said the pool was 'under maintenance' and not available. A wasted 2.5 hour trip.

Boone is a great town.
Boone is a great town. Clean, orderly, with plenty facilities, hotels, restaurants, good roads and friendly people. But terrible traffic too many cars and aggressive drivers. Beautiful area, best kept secret in NC. I love Boone, Blowing Rock, GF mountain, Tweetsee rr and small towns. Great environment.

It's just remote enough to enjoy the beauty of the area, but also close enough to enjoy Boone or Blowing Rock. The views from the deck or patio are great. A bonus is Elk Knob State Park is just a few miles up the road. The hike to the summit is well worth the effort. The house is comfortable and is well furnished and equipped. It would be easy just to spend all day there relaxing.
