Jaffna is highly recommendable if you like to see Sri Lanka in a less mainstream tourist way. There is a lot to see, very interesting history and lots of cultural and religious highlights. Go to Nagadeepa and Delft Islabd as well for a day.Else Loes en Felix - 10Scored 10

Jaffna has always been a lovely place to visit. This time we went to Kayts and saw what was left of the old Fort as well as Hammond Hiel across the water. Went to Point Pedro as well...It was a pity that there was a postbox at the northern most point of Sri Lanka - but no postcards or stamps!!! Seeing flamingos and other migrants across from the causeway to Kayts was a bonus. Jaffna was not as I expected .
Jaffna was not as I expected . Staying where I did you really needed your own transportation. I tried unsuccessfully to rent a bike ,and was told by Click hire place they were booked out for a few days ,I wondered about this as I hardly saw any other tourists ,and other companies didn’t return calls . Fort was really disappointing compared to Galle ,and they charge admission ! Restaurants recommended by lonely planet good , but Mangos has closed ,the Malaya is very good ,as is Akshatai ,but avoid Green Grass ,it’s horrible ,I couldn’t imagine staying there ! Very different to Colombo and other suburbs, but Jaffna has its own unique vibe. Pretty laid back I would say. The locals are friendly, but communicating with them could be a little challenging unless you spoke Tamil. Plenty of things to see and many different foods to try.

Its a quiet village with less population. Nice for a quiet getaway. Small and cosy town. Food is good and friendly people. Temples are good to visit too. The trip to Nainativu is unsafe. Boats were overloaded and I was afraid of a stampede because of the crowd. Other than that, everything else was a good experience for me.singam - 10Scored 10

Takes two days to travel around all the attractions, first day travel the east from Jaffna town with a rented vehicle which is much cheaper than the other areas. Other day travel nagadeepa and close by locations to Jaffna city. It was a nice experience around there for the everyone, but must pre plan everything.NavarathnaSri Lanka

It was overly sweet and pretty much had no alcohol in the drink. Draft beer was great. Thirdly, the room design was excellent and the bedrooms were very comfortable. And the family was soooo kind. They made delicious Jaffna food for us, and even showed us how they prepare the authentic dish Odiyal Kool over a woodfire. Each of us also got free king coconuts to drink not once but twice during our stay. What a bliss. The guy is helpful, welcoming, generous, friendly and is keen on sharing about the local life. Wish I could put 20/10 The breakfast options were great and affordable The house is very big with spacious outdoor areas. There is also the nicest and cleanest dog I have ever seen: a golden retriever named Sophie who is around but keeps its boundaries when you need it.

The train line behind the house was not disturbing as trains do not operate during night. Breakfast is delicious and plentiful. Dilan is also owner of D'Villa Garden House.
