I prefer hotels that are close to transport hubs; have basic facilities suited to solo traveller (mainly, washing machines); and have convenient eating options nearby (usually found in/around á train station). Washington hotel met these requirements. The hotel shows its age around the edges, but there was actually some charm in the old style gilt mirrors, etc. Other small bonuses: quiet, even though close to train line (Tottori not very busy anyway); good view of city and surrounding hills from upper floor room. Room size more than adequate.
Too bad I didn't have the time to stay another couple of days. I would have enjoyed it.

I had 5x as much fun here than expected. Sand Dunes? Sure, cool. But the list is long: the impressive Uradome Coast, the cute Hakuto Shrine for lovers, Chinese Garden Enchoen with cheap Chinese dress experience, Togo Lake surrounded by onsens, Mt Daisen dressed in its best autumn colors.... and everything is super fun! I can't recommend this destination more. Just brace for some challenging public transport. It's doable by buses etc. though. Use Japan Transit Planner app if Google Maps doesn't show you the route.
I was here 5 days but I think 6 would be better (I wanted to see Shoji Ueda Museum of Photography and a yokai manga museum).

Dunes weee amazing.
Dunes weee amazing. But avoid summer days with no cloud cover. The sand gets insanely hot! The French’s renaissance house and gardens were great in the front of the castle ruins and well worth a visit.

Was a great family trip. We enjoyed a lot sand dunes and museum. Kodomonokoukoku park was also above expectations. The sea clean and nice. Spent there only 2 days, but wished we could stay a bit longer and see all the coastal line.

Tottori Sand Dunes are breathtaking! We could have enjoyed longer.
Sand museum was an amazing experience. One can feel how much work and passion is behind those pieces of art!
We did not have enough time to
enjoy fully...one hour was not enough, but we were happy to have the opportunity to see them!

Tottori is a very nice place to visit at any season! You can walk around the city and find very cute small places to enjoy a warm cup of coffee and handmade scones at "cafe nee" or at night enjoy local beer at "beer bonds AKARI". For travelers with children, Warabe-kan is highly recommended. There are many activities children can enjoy, like play music, sing, and experience playing with japanese toys.

The Sand Dunes/Geo Park are a must see, and easy/cheap to get to. The coastline is stunning, and the delicacies of the region (crab, shallots, asian pear, and more) are delicious. There are loads of restaurants and parks, castle ruins, and a childrens Toy Museum with lots of hands-on activities (Warabekan). We took a train to neighbouring Yonago City, and hiked around Mt. Daisen. Lots more to see there, as well. I would go back to Tottori both to explore the city (and it's food), and the many outdoor activities.
The hotel is located a little out of the way and you have to call first upon arrival to get your room number. Each room has its own spacious garage, which is locked upon arrival.
A large and clean room awaited us and the stay was very pleasant and relaxing. As usual, all conceivable care products are available and the toilet and bathroom are in good condition.
The breakfast included in the price is okay, but a bit little.
It is a very nice bed and breakfast with comfortable rooms, each of them with private garden and shower. The property overlooks the Sea of Japan and is greatly situated to discover the cute and interesting Tottori prefecture.
Miki, the manager, is very friendly and attentionate.
We had tasty dinners at the property.
Also, it is a very good value for money.
Highly recommended!
the facilities are super clean and comfortable..
loved their shared space in 2f.. also the staff is so kind n considerate, I had booked a mixed capsule but they helped me to change to female capsule even without me asking.. the location is also quite close to Tottori station, 7-8 mins walk..
Location was excellent, right across from the train station. Loved the 24/7 laundry on the first floor. Excellent breakfast and wonderful welcome drink upon arrival. Very spacious rooms and excellent facilities with wonderful, very helpful staff. My cousin loved all the pillow options.
I had a great stay at Leiwa. The owner is such a nice guy, had great tips for Tottori and his recommended breakfast is the best. I went there 3 days in a row.
The location is very convenient, it's clean and you get all basic necessities.
A very good place to stay and explore Tottori!
Extremely close to Tottori station (3 min walk). Great cost performance, with all basic needs met. Breakfast included in rate, and food is different every day. Clean. Women can grab free bath bombs, lotion, loofa, and other health products. Would stay again!
It's a good capsule hotel, as far as they come. The location was really good, as was the free parking (which is always nice, in the middle of a downtown area). Shower rooms have lovely pressure, and the locker rooms for extra luggage are nice too.
Kind and helpful staff. We changed the plan and had to cancel the dinner we booked before our departure, and the hotel staff called the restaurant and cancelled our booking for me. Basic cosmetic sets for female customers were good, too.
Even though the building is in a residential area, the owner has a phenomenal steakhouse restaurant nextdoor which serves delicious food and wine. The house is a 5 minute walk from a farmers market and fish market, as well as the beach!
So surprised to find such a nice traditional Japanese Onsen hotel in Tottori. Friendly staff and delicious breakfast. Stayed in a few onsen hotels during this trip and this one offers great amenities and service.
Conveniently located city hotel with all the required facilities. It had a nice bathtub and a good view from the room across the city. On site parking is available. The rooms are small but clean.
The room was surprisingly big. The step into the bathroom was smaller compared to other hotels, so it's easy to enter and exit the bathroom.
Breakfast was delicious.
it's a nice hotel with a small public bath. the location is also very nice, very close to the station. the breakfast was also included and i liked that too.
