We spent 2 nights on Puzzle in November - not the best time to stay on a narrowboat in England but the brilliant central heating made it totally possible. It was very cosy and had absolutely everything we needed. If you're looking for something unique and bespoke, this is definitely the place for you. Martin was an excellent host, meeting us and allowing us to be flexible in checking in and out. There were a few little extras waiting for us on board which were much appreciated plus tea/coffee and condiments etc. For our second night, we bought food from the Tesco superstore (5 minutes walk away) and cooked in. It's a shame the weather was too chilly to sit outside on the deck for drinks or breakfast or to open the side hatches but we'll just have to come again when it's warmer! Ely is a great place and I highly recommend the cathedral tour and Octagon Tower tour.

The property was lovely, very nicely decorated, clean and comfortable. It was also in a very good position to visit the city of Ely being just about a half mile walk from the river and close to the centre. All in all we were not disappointed with the cottage or the location. The High Flyer restaurant is a few yards away and does very good food at reasonable prices too.

Ely is a wonderful small town for a few days stay - along the river is excellent on a fine day and a nice pub to have a drink and watch the world go by. Ely Cathedral was magnificent - we have visited many across UK and this is certainly one of the best - Stained Glass exhibition is also worth a visit. Cromwells House and Ely Museum worth a visit if you have time. Ely Cathedral has the Armoury Cafe which we would recommended for lunch. For dinner: The Lamb was excellent with wonderful food at a fair price.

Stayed at a hotel 10 minutes walk into Ely, the weather was extremely windy but we enjoyed the walk. We found quite a few quirly shops plus alll the usual high street shops, a few cafes and few places pto have a tea or coffee. We were surprised that the local carparks were free … what a bonus.
We walked around the cathedral and were amazed at the beauty of this truly amazing stricture.
We can recommend the Minster Arms for an evening meal, where they offer good food and ample servings.
We only stayed for a day and night but there will definately be another return visit to Ely

We loved the cathedral, which was at its most mystical when we visited in December. We attended two fantastic events in the cathedral during our stay – but needed a mulled wine afterwards to warm us up!
Another high point was the Farmers' market, which had all sorts of tempting foodstuffs on offer.

Loved the cathedral and the purpose of the visit was to see a performance of Dickens “A Christmas Carol” in the evening at the cathedral. A lovely way to start Christmas. A very good production of professional actors. Also went to the market and High Street and Oliver Cromwell’s house. All very interesting and enjoyable. Great pubs, good beer and food within walking distance.
Honestly, do yourself a favour and try the pub across the road that doubles up as a hotel. Our trip was very short notice and we booked Ely GH the day before, but we were disappointed to find that double rooms are priced way cheaper at the Pub and they also do a fantastic Sunday roast. I always read reviews before booking but let my guard down here, never again. It was probably one of the worse places I have ever stayed in my life and I’m not young.
BTW, I gave £110, where is my change?
Stunning inner courtyard with al fresco dining, that’s also great for a drink and read. Beautifully appointed rooms with good air conditioning, great shower and plenty of space. Staff are very friendly, attentive and helpful. The whole place feels classy and relaxed. Few minutes stroll to Ely Cathedral which you can see from the hotel dining room. The hotel kindly stored our bikes inside in a safe place. Highly recommended. Arrive early and leave late to soak up the atmosphere.
The hotel itself was as it says 5* in every way. It was immaculate in decor throughout, the room was bright with everything you needed. The hotel grounds were outstanding and the staff were all so friendly and could not do enough for you. We ate in the restaurant for our breakfast and evening meal, which again was absolutely delicious. We loved it so much we have booked again for our anniversary.
This hotel is absolutely ideally located just on the edge of Ely. The city centre is a very pleasant, short walk away. The room was very comfortable and had everything you would expect. Breakfast was superb with lots of choice, including some more unusual options. A great stay from start to finish, thank you.
Absolutely Fantastic. What you would expect from 5 Star Accommodation. Breakfast was lovely and a great selection. Spotlessly clean. Great location on the River. It made up in heaps for what started as an horrendous experience at another hotel. Thank you and we will definitely be back. Regards Caroline 😊
Our family of 5 had two apartments, and they were beautiful and perfect for our two night stay in Ely! The host left snack baskets & milk in the fridge for us, which was very nice. The kitchen had everything we needed! USB chargers were great. The location is fabulous.
The Hotel was in a great location for visiting the sites of Ely close to the pubs and restaurants. All the staff we met were friendly, courteous and helpful. Our room was comfortable and even air conditioned. Breakfast was very nice with a good choice of mains.
Very convenient location in a lovely small city.Good food and pleasant helpful staff.Parking available and easy to access.A proper town centre hotel without the atmosphere often associated with an ‘Inn’
Affordable room compared to other venues in Ely. Nice old guest house with a lovely looking garden (too cold to be outside in early March). Good breakfast in a large dining room overlooking the garden.
A very well appointed house close to the centre of Ely ahd handy for a Cambridge visit. Excellent pub behind the property for food. Recommend the micro-pub towards the bottom of the High Street.
