The owners were very friendly and helpful. The dinner was excellent. The room was small but comfortable and the bed excellent. The lift was being decorated but worked well. We had a small terrace.

The staff were terrific, helping us with our bags and explaining everything. We had a superior large room with a terrace view. The room was very large and the view fantastic. Extremely comfortable. Whilst there is no elevator there is only ground and first floor. We had arranged a garage so had somewhere to lock up the car but they also offer free off street parking (booking.com didn’t give us this option). We also had breakfast and it was plentiful. From our assessment this is at the quieter end of the beach, which is good. Only about 10 minutes away from the Hubub.

The location is superb, on the Grande Plage. The hotel is tastefully decorated throughout; the room was furnished with a comfortable bed, everything arranged for ease of use; the bathroom was lovely, a walk-in shower, everything in excellent condition and sparkling clean. I much liked the silent doors - when they closed, there was the lightest click. A very good spread offered for breakfast. The hotel staff were welcoming, helpful and friendly, and contributed hugely to the congenial atmosphere of the hotel.

The hotel was in a very good location near some restaurants and bars in the closer part of town. The hotel was very close to the large sandy beach. The hotel offered a set meal in the evening for an extra cost but you were not offered any choice for the meal. Breakfast choice was good. The room was of a reasonable size with a balcony overlooking the garden. Hotel also offered a parking space in their garage for an extra cost.

Hendaye is beautiful but Hendaye Plage itself is a little beautiful beach village with no good restaurants-who goes to France and has bad dinners?!. Also - we had a terrible experience with the rental property we rented near where we have family living.The people who ran the agency that managed our apartment through booking.com/poplidays.com were very unprofessional and unaccommodating when we had serious issues. The property manager or the owner -- I don't know which was greedy and used our security deposit to cover expenses that were outrageous. There was one little smudge on the glass stove top and they withheld 80+ euros for cleaning. The place was spotless except for the smudge. This was just a way to get more money when we already payed a huge amount for a week's rent. They also charged us for a repair to the shutter that would not go down. The day we arrived, the door lock was not working and it required a locksmith to come as we were locked out. They were unreachable for a few hours and provided terrible customer service and the property manager rep who came was cussing up a storm because she had to work after hours. Everyone we dealt with before during and after this rental was obnoxious and not the least bit concerned about us or our experience. They just want the money. So good luck if you go there!

Love it there, many day trips possible closeby in France as well as in Spain: hikes in the lower Pyrenees, bike rides, visiting cities like San Sebastian, Biarritz or Bilbao - or the cute Basque villages. The beach is fantastic, good to know that the weather may vary as it is on the Atlantic side and at the foot of the Pyrenees.MeikeNetherlands - 10Scored 10

We like Hendaye, having stayed there many times. The beach is excellent. Splashing around in the surf is great fun. There are plenty of places to eat and drink. We have returned several times to a creperie near the seafront - highly recommended. The promenade has been improved recently. We ate in the Santiago Hotel restaurant. The food was good and there was a vegetarian option. We found the river and walked along the wooden walkway. There were lots of birds to see. At present it is not easy to get around Hendaye as there are major works on the main road, and the train to Hendaye from San Sebastien stopped before Hendaye and we were sent to buses to take us the rest of the journeyLindaUnited Kingdom - 8.0Scored 8.0

The walk along the river to the sea is beautiful with parks and flowers. Good transport links to San Sebastián and Saint Jean de Luz and back to Bordeaux. It was difficult to find a restaurant on Sunday evening!

All beautifully designed and decorated, bright but also cosey. Tea, coffee, fruit, bread, cereals, it's all there. And a great garden to relax in. Gives you the perfect summer feeling. It might be a bit too far to walk to the main beach, but there are bikes at the house, which you can use for free, for a beautiful ride on the cycling path along the shore which will take you to the harbor and the beaches of Hendaye in 10 minutes. Truly recommendable.

We only took our car out to go into the mountains. For 5,50 euros you can get a bus 4 minutes walk away to the train station and then a little train to San Sebastian in Spain. And that cost is return!!! St Jean de Luz was 2.40 euros on the bus return! Fabulous views along the coast. a wo nderful part of France.PeterFrance
