Muong Thanh Holiday Con Cuong features an outdoor swimming pool, fitness centre, a shared lounge and restaurant in Con Cuông. I had been here before so I knew what I wanted---good-value, nice facilities in a quiet area with beautiful landscapes. Happy to say the hotel continues to provide this, with no power outages in storms, hot water and copious AC at all times, and delicious food in the restaurant (Vietnamese food only---don't order Western food, the chefs are not trained despite it being on the menu). Visiting tourists should drive along the road to Laos and keep crossing the river over the many 'cầu treo' (I forget the English term, not 'hanging bridges' surely)---there are so many lovely villages in the area.

Muong Thanh Grand Hoang Mai - Nghe An offers accommodation in Hoàng Mai, Nghệ An. The hotel has an outdoor pool and views of the mountain, and guests can enjoy a meal at the restaurant. Incredibly fancy hotel, well-suited for business. However, we travelled and used this as a quick stop to Hanoi and we were a bit judged by the staff for not being ‘neat and tidy’ due to our motorbike. All in all, the fanciest hotel ever but be aware that you should fit in.

The complex had working elevators. Rooms were of a good size. Water pressure and the showers were ok. The bed was very hard, and the TV didn't work. We only stayed one night. The staff were helpful.

It was on a busy road so wouldn’t have chosen to stop there but needed to go where the hotels were.
