Hotel y Suites El Refugio de Don Carlos is set in Zacatecas, 1.3 km from Cerro de la Bufa and 900 metres from Eden Mine. The rooms are fitted with a flat-screen TV. This Hotel is a modern day Riad. First built by the Romans, borrowed by the Moors. Stolen by the Spanish and brought to Mexico. From the terrace to the small water fall( not a fountain) The rooms are huge with there inward facing balconies. Spotlessly clean. When you combine the design with the fact there is an aqueduct 500 metres away. Personally I find it a very special place to stay.

Size of room, bed, furnishings, all very good. Difficult to fin though. google maps takes you to the wrong side of the hotel and downtown Zacatecas is difficult to navigate. They had to come and find us and drove us there.
