MUSAS is exceptional (Museo de Arte de Sonora) Central square, cathedral Lovely old streets with atmosphere. Small local stores mixed with residential use, includindg bakery People very nice.
The beaches and pools are great for the children. Penasco Malecon was was close the Sonoran sea resort, a lot of places to eat with family. I would definitely come again. The downside is that once you get to the Malecon the vendors want you to buy items in dollars which comes out more expensive, however you can negotiate and be consistent with the vendors.
For the first time we went to Jose's restaurant. Is a small place but we think is one of the best restaurants by malecon. The pool at sonoran sky resorts is great for children and adults. The beach is clean and the water is just perfect.
Meeting friendly people. The food and service at Sonora Steaks was great. Getting around Hermosillo it is a little tough from someone coming from Tucson. It was hard to get a good city map of Hermosillo. People send us to several places but we could not get a good map of Hermosillo. The hotel could do a better job. We got lost several times. It is nice to see that you can get almost anything that buy in Tucson.
Traffic in Hermosillo is very heavy and you can't tell where the lane margins are because the lines are not painted on the roads. Dangerous place to drive in. Otherwise, very nice moderate sized Mexican town. Has some really good restaurants. Check out the Sonora Steak House - Excellent steaks and great service.
Rocky Point is a beautiful and small sea side town located in the northern state of Sonora, Mexico. It offers lots of miles of beaches accessible to almost anyone who isn't afraid of walking a little. As with any foreign country, I recommend sticking to resort areas and Las Conchas, as these areas are a little more safe as they provide security patrols and they screen visitors that enter the properties. I have had a few scary experiences at night in Rocky Point and so I do recommend travelers only go into the market during the day. Many shady types come out at night and it isn't safe for gringos to be out.
This hotel is stunningly restored by a friendly and wonderful couple. They roast their own coffee here and it is the best in the state of Sonora (we are from Seattle so coffee is important). The staff is excellent and helpful. The room is beyond description as is the garden and the dining room. A large comfortable king bed, a huge walk-in shower. There is no TV which we sincerely appreciated at this time of bad news. We also appreciated the short walk to the plaza. We highly recommend the Colonial Hotel in Alamos.
Driving was difficult in Guaymas because we had an inadequate map and MANY streets are without street name signs. The number of "topes," (speed bumps) is also annoying; streets are potholed when one leaves the main drag. We spent a lot of time walking in the residential and business areas of Hotel Armida, a revealing exercise to see something of how people really lived. We went to Guaymas because we wanted to use it as our headquarters for visits to old colonial towns in the mountains (probably a 2-3- drive), but when we got our tourist visas, the border agent who checked us in told us that we were not to go beyond Empalme, another port city just 5 miles from Guaymas. We never found out why this was true, because we thought that we'd still be in the state of Sonora. The golf course at nearby San Carlos is not in excellent condition, but we thoroughly enjoyed our morning of play there. ($30 for 9 holes with a cart.) Also in San Carlos we found Captain Bob's restaurant (near the lovely harbor) and discovered parrot fish, a light white fish grilled and drowned in lemon/garlic butter. Sensational. The steak house adjacent to the Hotel Armida is also fine. P.S. We are not a "young couple," but senior citizens.
We stayed on both sides of the border and love the place. "Noggie" has seen its ups and downs, and living close by (Tucson) we have seen its various transformations. It seems to be on an uplift these days, where in the recent past it all seemed very depressing. But the people (on both sides) seem resilient and determined to improve their community. By chance, we visited while a tequila street fair was happening (April 21-22) on the Sonoran side, and attended the a Charles Mingus dedication on the Arizona side, and both events were wonderful.
The over all commute from condo to city can be kind of confusing, you really have to be paying attention to the roads.Everyone is very friendly very helpful. The food is great, I especially enjoyed the food at Emiliano's inside Sonoran Sun property.
I traveled to Hermosillo, Sonora, to take a course, the class was at a Marriot Hotel, but I chose Hilton for its price and reviews regarding cleanliness, and even though I had to drive 10 minutes to my destination, I am happy that I was not wrong, since the same day I had the opportunity to compare them.
We’ve stayed at this hotel a number of times when we travel in Mexico heading north. The location is great and the Sonora Steakhouse is within walking distance.
The attention was amazing. We wanted a room a little bit closer to the beach and they did what they could to help us have the best time there. Additionally, after our check out, we had an accident on the road to Mexicali and they were really helpful by providing us several options of towing companies in Puerto Peñasco. We are so grateful for what they did. I recommend a lot to stay there.
The room were are in had a beautiful ocean view. The facilities in the hotel were really good. I liked the buzz and vibe in the hotel and the beach adjacent is super cool.
The room was super spacious and the view amazing, same as the bath tube outside and the warm pool (sauna was off) for a chilly day. The food was great, staff, everything! The sofa was very comfortable, great size and firm, not like many others you find in hotels.
we felt very safe. great food. perfect place for our dog
beautiful and love the activity’s they have available.
The breakfast is omelette or scrambled or over easy eggs. The buffet has chilly meat, chiqillas, yogurt, fruit, fruit drinks, coffee, and other Mexican food items. It cost $14 all inclusive buffet. The restaurant staff provide great customer service.
We loved this place. Nothing super fancy but the building was amazing and the staff were super friendly. Walking to all points super accessible and so glad we stayed!
it’s clean, quiet, relaxing excellent food limpio, tranquilo y relajante, la comida deliciosa
Loved this small hotel! Clean facilities, great location, friendly staff, delicious breakfast. We hope to visit again soon!
The resort was beautiful and our apartment was clean, beautiful and comfortable.
We have stayed here many times. We like the location and we like the hotel itself along with the restaurant. The price when booked was lower than what we got charged at the time of arrival. I don't understand why.
The staff the pool the location
