Sat here waiting to go and I wish we weren’t! so glad we stayed at El Gringo, it has a stillness and peace that you can’t find in many places. a slice of heaven. it’s a beautiful place and the staff are super smiley, friendly and helpful. We did our Tikal trip through them too & we got a packed lunch to go. The food has been delicious every time and we’re veggie. There are lots of places to sit and lake watch, swing in a hammock, listen to nature, paddle board around and swim in the lake. Everything is perfect.

The place is away from the village in a lush greenery and we loved it! Service was super friendly and fast. They even helped us with the transfer to Tikal and back. Our double room was simple but big, with a big terrace with chairs and a hammock to relax and enjoy the greenery / to read etc. Bed was comfortable and had a decent mosquito net. They have a decent menu so we seldom ate breakfast there or had some drinks. The hotel is a walking distance from El Remate so we also walked to visit some restaurants or tienda for some snacks when we wanted to. My favourite thing for sure was the fact it's a little away and in the greenery, little hidden gem. Because it's close to the bioreserve, it was wonderful to hear the sounds of nature and especially have our first experience with howler monkeys howling 🙂 I would recommend it for sure.

We didn’t have internet, stuck on a bus for 12hrs, arrived much later than we’re told. The town shuts down at 9pm, which we were not advised of previously. The owner was so helpful and understanding of us arriving late. He helped us organise a bus to visit Tikal for the next day. Our room was an excellent location and beautiful views. The room was very clean. Owner speaks very good English and is happily to help sort out any activities or provide advice on where to eat in the area.

Offering an outdoor pool and a restaurant, Bolontiku Boutique Hotel & Spa is located 15 minutes by boat from Flores Island. Great location, hidden away in the forest. Big room with great views from the large balcony. Very efficient ferry service from hotel to Flores Island. The staff were all friendly. The airport transfers went very smoothly. The two staff members on reception (Brayam? and Danila?) were both very helpful when we had a problem with a cancelled flight and a lost phone. They also helped us book a good trip to Tikal.

We loved everything. From the beautiful lagoon, to the food, the excellent and amazing service, the views, the rooms… A big shoutout to Elmer, Víctor, Alex and Myron who were kind and attentive from sunrise to night… This is a hidden gem and we will absolutely be back soon!
