Nestled on a ridge overlooking the vast Waipoua Forest, where iconic kauri trees have been living for 3,000 years, Waipoua Lodge offers luxury accommodation in an original homestead. Waipoua Lodge exceeded all our expectations. The website photos are good, yet don't quite do it justice. Not sure how one would capture this place in pictures. From the arrival greeting by Ann to the gourmet dinner prepared by Fiona, we were constantly impressed. The quality and cleanliness of the rooms were superb. We spent time after dinner in the jacuzzi, which was a welcome treat. Our only regret was just spending one night. It is a place to unwind and experience nature. There is also an extensive library and many many videos for additional entertainment. Everything was first class. The lodge guests were international - from Germany, Switzerland, France, and the U.S. Makes for interesting interchanges if desired. Tane Mahuta is a short drive away. Treat yourself and be sure to stay at Waipoura Lodge. It's a true delight.

Situated in a 100-year-old building, guests staying at this lodge can relax in the hot tub and then prepare a meal using the barbecue facilities provided. The view was amazing. We sat in bed in the morning drinking coffee and watching the sun rise above the mist. The spa pool is in a covered area, where you can look at the view. Beds were soft, just how we like them! Very quiet area. 😉

Located along the historic banks of the Waitangi River, Te Awa Lodge is 10 minutes’ drive from the Paihia waterfront and major cruise operators. Everything about this place is exceptional. The beautiful scenery and the place is very tidy and surrounded by beautiful gardens. Amazing service and on top of everything, lovely and friendly owners. Really enjoyed our time at Te Awa Lodge.
