Everything is carefully thought to be comfortable, pleasant, practical etc. Loved the decoration and the facilities. The hosts even picked me up from the train station. Probably the best hostel I have ever stayed in.

Surrounded by rainforest and mountains, Chateau Backpackers & Motels offers an outdoor fire pit, BBQ facilities. Amazing breakfast with pancakes and waffles ! The hostel is also in the center of Franz Josef, and the staff was very helpful. The rooms are quiet, clean and the curtains next to the beds offer some privacy. I enjoyed my short stay there !

Located in Punakaiki, 1 km from Punakaiki Scenic Attraction, Punakaiki Beach Hostel has a garden and a terrace. Free WiFi is available. Truck camper was fun and comfortable

Just 900 metres from Grey River, a popular swimming spot, Brunnerton Lodge and Backpackers offers free Wi-Fi and free bicycle rental. Great room. Loads of space for en suite bathroom and kitchen plus bedroom all in one area. Well equipped and clean with good facilities. Outside area comfortable with loads of chairs to relax. Chickens roaming. Loads of carpark area. Location is good, just outside Greymouth, local old mine memorial just down the road. River access close by as well. John the owner was lovely and anxious to please everyone and meet us all. Would recommend.

Tripinn YHA is the only Westport Hostel without a party bus so you will enjoy a good nights sleep. Just 3 minutes’ walk from Westport main street, Tripinn Hostel Backpackers YHA. Cozy, quiet and clean hostel. It's quite big place and has a character. Big kitchen and lounge area. Highly recommended!

Set against a backdrop of rainforest and mountain, Haka House Franz Josef Glacier features solar hot water and power, a fully equipped shared kitchen and a guest lounge with satellite TV. The room is nice and the kitchen is so good.
