Chris the owner is fantastic, happy to help at any opportunity and keeps the rooms clean. Breakfast was a very nice touch, spot on to set you up for the day. the location is great as it’s in the middle of town. the free soup provided is tasty and yet again a nice touch. Would definitely stay here again if in the area.

The Undertakers Backpackers is located in Kumara, 20 km from Hokitika and 20 km from Greymouth. The Undertakers Backpackers is a four bedroom cottage with a shared living area, kitchen and bathroom. We loved the cottage - 5 of us stayed there and it was great Very Cutie and well presented

Located in Punakaiki, 1 km from Punakaiki Scenic Attraction, Punakaiki Beach Hostel has a garden and a terrace. Free WiFi is available. Probably my favourite place I stayed in NZ. amazing shower, bed, tv. you can walk right out to the water. beware of sand flies but that can’t be helped. a weird religious vibe but ok if you mind your own business!

Just 900 metres from Grey River, a popular swimming spot, Brunnerton Lodge and Backpackers offers free Wi-Fi and free bicycle rental. The owner of the place was a lovely person, very nice. He showed us the place very patiently. hot water. Homely atmosphere. He took care of everything we needed

Tripinn YHA is the only Westport Hostel without a party bus so you will enjoy a good nights sleep. Just 3 minutes’ walk from Westport main street, Tripinn Hostel Backpackers YHA. The place was wonderful. The communal kitchen was big, clean, tidy and well equipped. very cute cats on the premises

Set against a backdrop of rainforest and mountain, Haka House Franz Josef Glacier features solar hot water and power, a fully equipped shared kitchen and a guest lounge with satellite TV. The beds were super comfy. The place was all done up new. It was extremely clean, comfortable and warm. There was a huge sauna free to use from 6-9pm. Loved my stay here
