Good day
We stayed at the property on Saturday. The room was excellent, but the service and the standard of food were shocking. I booked through booking.com. I have booked multiple times through booking.com for many establishments, and the process has always been to pay on arrival. Your receptionist took it upon herself to request payment before our arrival, causing my payment to decline and incurring unnecessary charges on my side and further embarrassing me in front of my partner. I have experienced fraud on my account/card multiple times. Hence, I have to authorize payment. No communication or mention was made that I would need to make prior payment. I would have been happy to make payment prior if it had been communicated.
Your staff are friendly but untrained and have little to no knowledge of what you offer or your services. We decided to have drinks at the bar before dinner. Your drinks menu is limited, and you do not offer cocktails. I received little to no assistance on what could be made for me. And I was told to get up and go to the bar because both gentlemen working in the bar area had no clue about what you had in stock ,which was even more shocking because your alcohol options to make up a cocktail are so limited. I then explained to the barman what combination he could do for a cocktail.
Dinner was appalling. We requested a wine menu which took forever to arrive as you only have one wine menu for all guests. The bread box/basket was bizarre. Clearly bought in commercial sour dough bread, bland meatballs , shortbread biscuits, and lurpak butter still in its original packaging. Starters: Duck carpaccio with a homemade store bought Sriracha, blueberries, and kewpie mayo, completely different from what was indicated on the menu. My mind is completely blown at this combination and the sheer lack of skill or knowledge used to execute this poor menu. This was served on lettuce, which also blew me away.

The location was fine. But I would suggest that they install wifi that is very good even in the rooms.
Moreover, It would be more nicer if they cam serve breakfast at the lodge.

Magaliesburg is a lovely place for a short getaway.
Magaliesburg is a lovely place for a short getaway. Close enough to Jhb, but you still get the feeling of being away. There are a number of interesting places to visit, and it's lovely to see the local people making such efforts to build up their businesses and the area.

If you are in the Magaliesburg area, be sure to stop at Black Horse brewery and restaurant. They have some of the best pizzas, burgers, craft beer and gin in the country. Everything is hand-crafted and the venue is absolutely gorgeous with its terraces, rolling gardens and fields. The Spar in Magalies has everything you might need if you are staying at a self-catering venue, so no need to drag your kitchen along.

Food was great. Accomodation was spacious and clean. The views are spectacular and the game drive was amazing. Simply everything was excellent. I have visited many countries and stayed in almost more than 50 countries and I can say this hotel is number 1 ion my list. I even had more joy in this hotel than Walt Disney USA. All staff were very kind and helpful. Thanks to Lucas, Elias and Lovemore for going the extra mile
This is a self-catering facility, but they still had some coffee, tea, sugar & milk replacement in the kitchen - which was very nice and unexpected. We were contacted by the owner before arriving to make sure if we know where they are and to arrange the collection of the keys if we would arrive very late. Our cabins had beautiful bathrooms, were very spacious and was very clean and comfortable.
The staff treats you like family, the hotel and accomodation is absolutely beautiful with a lovely view of Friesian Horses and farmland. The food is 5 star. If you need a break from stress and city life, this tranquil setting will be the place, its just over an hour out of Johannesburg.
This is a very comfortable, characterful hotel. It reminds one strongly of the Cape in architecture and gardens. The bedrooms are huge, comfortable and nicely furnished, and the bathrooms large and well-equipped. Very friendly staff who could not do enough to make one welcome.
The hotel was just what the doctor ordered - tranquility and restful.
The food was amazing, and the staff were super helpful. Israel went out of his way to ensure that we were comfortable and our needs were taken care off.
The location was scenic and serine , it was exactly what we needed for a getaway. The hostess Nungo was professional and ensured our stay was comfortable. She also provided many suggestions for activities in the area.
A hidden gem in Magaliesburg. Picture perfect. Exquisite rooms and incredible hosts! This has become our new annual "spoil" - as good as staying on a wine farm in the Midlands.
The grounds were amazing. The hotel poured a special bath with rose petals for our anniversary. The attention to detail from the staff was lovely and we will be back!
The view was amazing, its a ranch not a five star hotel. If you want to get away from the city noise, then this is the place. No tv just perfect. Great family time
