This is a hotel located just across the street from the beach and it is very affordable! It has a retro charm - it's clean, quiet, and everything was comfortable. You can walk to restaurants and there is a heated pool! It doesn't have all the latest updates or a bunch of frills - but it is more than comfortable. Fans are included in each room and the rooms are very clean and comfortable.

As hoteliers/restaurateurs, we have a different and sometimes stricter perspective than others. I can only congratulate the hotelier here. We had room 320 and were completely satisfied. What a great room and the service was always unobtrusively nice and courteous. We have traveled halfway around the world but rarely have we stayed in such a great hotel. Congratulations!
As there was not a hair in the soup to be found, we can wholeheartedly give a full score here...🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼

Santa Barbara was absolutely beautiful!!! It was really lush and green there! The wildflowers were blooming everywhere! The mountains and hills were super lush and green and very beautiful! The Botanical Gardens are incredible and are filled with poppies and wildflowers! The Mission, Courthouse, State Street, Stearns Wharf, and Alice Peck Park are all amazing places to visit! The weather was a perfect 73 degrees for most of my trip, until the last day. The people were all very nice and pleasant to deal with. Brophy's, at the Harbor has the best fish and chips that I have ever had!! There were some whales right off of the Harbor that I was privileged to see! There was also an awesome feeding frenzy that brought in hundreds of pelicans and cormorants to dive into the water at the same time!! It was phenomenal to watch. People who have lived in Santa Barbara all of their lives have never seen anything like it!!! It was an absolutely amazing trip!

We visited in February when unknown to us was the film festival, the weather was perfect, town seemed quiet even with film festival which was a bonus, still able to grab tickets. Plenty of restaurants to choose from, lots with outdoor eating with patio heaters. We enjoyed the SB Whale watching trip we did, small exclusive boat made us feel VIPs and saw plenty of humpback whales. Easy to walk around the town, but also easy to drive and explore neighbouring Montecito

For seafood, Lure is amazing!!! Chad's and Cajun Kitchen are great breakfast spots.
If you are there on Sunday, see the Art/Craft Market at the Beach. Lots of amazing stuff and all the vendors are so friendly.
Also, a huge recommendation to Olive Hill Farms in Los Olivos. Great place for oils and vinegars.

Loved the beautiful landscaping and architecture everywhere.
Loved the beautiful landscaping and architecture everywhere. Clean city and easy to navigate while driving but MapQuest misguided me numerous times. Excellent ethnic food restaurants. Lots of choices. I’m recommending “Meet Up” Chinese, “Your Place” Thai and “Masala Spice” Indian foods. Meet Up was first place I’ve ever been served by a robot!!!! Very cool!

Santa Barbara has a lot to offer from beaches to hiking...
Santa Barbara has a lot to offer from beaches to hiking mountain biking to sailing and other outdoor adventures. I would have liked to have more time to explore. Relax at the rose gardens at the mission, hike more, beach sunsets and dinner downtown. Getting around is easy. Biking is fun! I would avoid the traffic in the funk zone on Friday night. Park in a paid lot and walk in is what I recommend. Also check out the Farmer’s market downtown on Tuesday nights and Saturday mornings. Wishing everyone a great time!
Harbor View Inn was one of the most beautiful hotel stops on our California tour. The room we has was HUGE and incredibly comfortable for our 2 night stay. Location was spot on - we were located in the North building which led straight out onto Mason, a stones throw away from the beach and only a 10-15 min stroll to the downtown area (even closer to the Funk Zone and wine bars!)
Nice little balcony on our 2nd floor room too! Perfect for enjoying an ice-cream from McConnells (just across the street) and a glass of something sparkling!
On our 15 day road trip, we stayed at 10 different accommodations. This is by far our favorite and we stayed at some very nice hotels along the way. Room was spacious and well decorated. Bed was comfortable and the balcony was very nice. The location was amazing and we loved being able to cross the street and be on the beach. Staff here was very friendly. We will absolutely stay here again if we are ever back in the area!
The property is not close to downtown but that gave us opportunity to explore other parts of Santa Barbara. It is very affordable compared to other places. It’s quieter where we were at and that made our weekend trip relaxing and enjoyable. The hotel is close to restaurants, bars and coffee shops and as always we like to support local businesses wherever we travel. Thank you Agave Inn!
The owner was friendly and honest. I was so tired I did not realize l left my cell phone at the lobby. I was in my room less than five minutes. Someone knocks on the door and it was the hotel owner with my cell phone! My room was clean with a comfortable bed. I was in town for the Santa Barbara Film Festival and the hotel was on the same street as the theatre!
The location was perfect for our purposes in Santa Barbara. Quick and easy walk to State Street. Beautiful hotel and grounds. Nice courtyard area for guests to sit and relax. Room was clean and very quiet. The hotel provided a basket of individually wrapped scones, cookies, oatmeal and toiletries plus a bottle of wine from Santa Barbara Winery at check in.
It was convenient to our operations in Santa Barbara (several facilities near downtown) and for dining and a movie. The bed was comfortable (nether too stiff nor too soft), and the temperature controls were easy to adjust and understand. Parking was convenient to the room ,m which during a downpour was appreciated.
Excellent stay at this property. Very clean, nicely decorated, convenient wet bar with everything you need for a short stay. Huge refrigerator, utensils and lot of space. Best location near beach area and short walk to SB downtown. Best value, would love to be back again and again.
We had probably the best room in the inn, 2nd floor facing south with sea view.
Spacious room.
Great personel giving advice what to do do in Santa Barbara
The location, 2 min walk from the beautiful East Beach
Nice pool.
Free parking at the street.
Breakfast included!
Location is excellent, near the beach and a number of great restaurants nearby. Room service food was the best I've ever had! The rooftop pool and hottub were amazing. We spent most of our time there and loved every minute of it! Our room was spacious and very quiet.
The hotel is a beautiful old building in a fantastic neighborhood location in Santa Barbara. It is an easy walk to State Street for all the dining and shopping options in the main part of town. The property and gardens were very pretty.
The architecture of the hotel fits nicely into the post colonial architecture of Santa Barbara. The rooms are standard, but there’s nothing to complain about them. the staff is friendly. The lobby facilities are good.
loved the Californian - honestly came from Santa Monica to Santa Barbara it was like a breath of fresh air !! chalk and cheese - anyway great hotel - good food nearby - great everything ! will come again !
cleanliness, bed was comfortable, and absolutely LOVED the aesthetics of the hotel .... so cute, quaint and "Santa Barbara" !
Loved the many cute wrought iron patio tables, sitting areas and flowers.
Location is very good for access to Santa Barbara and surrounding region. The hotel facilities are very good, and the staff very helpful. Breakfast is good quality and has something for everyone.
The location is great if you want to be in downtown Santa Barbara. The staff is very nice and helpful. The hotel is old and funky which is fine. The bed was comfortable.
The motel was a quick drive to the vibrant downtown area of Santa Barbara. The hotel was exactly what we needed, and affordable and comfortable space to stay over night.
Everything! One block from Santa Barbara's West Beach coastline. Clean rooms, great breakfast, hot tub, pool, plenty of parking & the best hotel staff anywhere.
