The location was close to trains and in a very pleasant part of town. Downtown Chicago is reachable in 20 or so minutes by CTA or Metro.
The hotel restaurants were appealing and one stayed open late.
I would definitely stay here again.

Oak Park has a laid back village vibe, whilst being an easy train ride into downtown Chicago. Plenty of shopping, cafe and restaurant options. Whilst visiting family in Oak Park, the added bonus was the many lovely parks, and easy walking in the streets amongst historic homes with outstanding architectural interest.

Oak Park is very atmospheric, great food choices and beautiful culture and at a stone’s throw from downtown using the famous L.

The hotel, built in 1928, was historic, had large rooms with a dining area and king size bed. We stayed in the main part of the hotel, not the motor lodge. Very quaint in a good way and only 2 blocks from the green line of the "L". We took the train from the airport directly to the hotel, no need to rent a car. The green line goes directly into downtown Chicago.

Oak Park is a Chicagoland Gem.
Oak Park is a Chicagoland Gem. We planned a Frank Lloyd Wright home and studio tour with self-guided walking tour. That was a great value. The Carleton Hotel was an ideal location to enjoy safe evening walks. Other attractions were closed on Mondays.

Oak Park is my hometown, so I might be a little biased.
Oak Park is my hometown, so I might be a little biased. Always love coming here, but not just for the memories. It is a welcoming town, with a wonderful variety of places to eat, visit and enjoy. It has a commendable reputation for being a safe, friendly and upscale community for its inhabitants and visitors.

Oak Park is a very charming old neighborhood, clean and green, with beautiful big trees, and interesting architecture. We have enjoyed the breakfast, coffee, and cupcakes at the Courageous Cafe, as well as empanadas in the Mulata across the street. For those looking for a great social place and ice cream refreshment - there is a great store just down the street from Mulata that is open until late.
What’s not to like?! This bed and breakfast is a refreshing change from hotel chains. The home is beautiful inside and out, and everything seems to be well maintained. The staff was helpful and easy to reach. My only regret was not having more time to extend my stay. I hope to be back.
If your travels take you to the area, Harvey House should be at the top of your list for accommodations.
The apartment was clean and in a great location. It had more room than we needed, but would easily fit a group of 4-6, having two bathrooms. Ali was a great host, checking in and making sure everything was as expected. His instructions were thorough and clear. Overall, a great experience and I'll recommend the place to friends that may want to stay in the area.
Rooms were clean and beds were comfortable with plenty of pillows and a nice view. There was a microwave, mini fridge, and coffee maker. Toiletries provided were high quality. Room was ready an hour before check in. Area surrounding hotel had plentiful restaurants, coffee shops, and parks. Right off the Green Line. Free parking nearby was a huge plus!

The beds were very comfortable. Had a selection of pillows. The parking lot was safe. We had bikes on the back of our car in the parking lot. It was fine. It also is surprisingly close to Frank Lloyd Wright homes, at the Brookfield zoo and downtown!
Clean, comfortable and quite. Location in Downtown Oak Park was good for us. Enjoyed the shopping and restaurants. Appliances all worked well.
Host was darling and saved the day on any problem.
You will find this gem in the beautiful Oak Park, 30 min from downtown. The area has beautiful historic houses. The home is spacious and well attired - a great place to stay with family!
Beautiful and immaculately clean high-rise apartment in the heart of Oak Park's business district. Only minutes from great restaurants & Classic Cinemas Lake Theatre!
