Location was good. Rooms were clean. Comfortable bed.
Beautiful beach!! We liked it even more than the beach in Grand Haven. We also loved the food at the restaurant right on the Pere Marquette Beach!! There was construction, so it took us on a route through a rather rough looking area of Muskegon. But, once out of that area, we found all kinds of shops, restaurants, and activities, but we spent most of our time at the beach. We also went into Grand Haven to enjoy the miles of waterfront walkway, shops and restaurants, and the music at their open music stadium. We did eat at a wonderful burger restaurant in Muskegon, that was in a restored gas station!! So good! But the neighborhood it was in was a little sketchy. Muskegon needs small government and grants behind the small businesses and residents to restore and revitalize their downtown. They have an amazing beach and restaurant with live music, but felt like we needed to go into Grand Haven for more shops, restaurants, and a waterfront walkway that went all the way down to the beach area and lighthouse walkway. We felt very safe there in Grand Haven. So beautiful and clean there!!

The public beach was nice, water was beautiful, however the town was rough. Not well kept, not a tourist type city. Small gems here and there that were neat to visit but not the most family friendly.

We enjoyed visiting the in-laws.
We enjoyed visiting the in-laws.
Parts of Muskegon are beautiful, quiet and even a few fun/great food places in the old town section near the fairgrounds.

BEWARE!
BEWARE! I booked and paid online for this room, but as soon as I pulled into my parking spot a woman ran up yelling at me to pay. After checkout, in which I had just received my $50 cash deposit back, a man came running out after me and actually physically bumped into me yelling about a receipt. Police were called.

Muskegon has a great resource called LAKE MICHIGAN and they haven't fully capitalized on this great asset.
They could have a lot more tourism and even industry with the docks.
Place to eat if you like Pizza- Capone
I will go back. However, it's not my first choice.
Note; I would go back for the hotel we stayed at.

We came for the bike trails and were not disappointed.
We came for the bike trails and were not disappointed. There are tons of rainy day things to do as well: museums, wineries near by, the Hocking house, a cute downtown with great shopping, lots of nice places to eat.
There are a lot of crappy neighborhoods, ugly factories and deserted buildings in Muskegon.
We had a view of the water from our room. There is also a boardwalk you can walk to get more water views and a gorgeous sunset view. The hotel has indoor and outdoor pools- my kids loved swimming in both. Our room was large and comfortable. The decor of the hotel is very unique- one of the staff described it as “gothic” but my kids alluded it to Luigi’s Mansion. While you can’t walk to the beach, it was a short drive to Pere Marquette beach which is beautiful.
This hotel is all about location! I loved being right on the water and really enjoyed the outdoor pool and walking to The Lake House for dinner and a glass of wine. I also thought the customer service was outstanding, all of the staff were so polite, friendly and helpful. The Shoreline was also within walking distance of where I was going, and it was easy to walk to numerous shops and restaurants.
the room lighting felt remarkably cozy. The parking lot and the hallway felt a little creepy, so it was quite welcome when I got to my room that it felt safe and homey. The value for the money was honestly decent – it wasn't a good hotel, but they didn't charge a lot for it, so I suppose that's a good thing. The tap water tasted good.
This was a decent hotel for the money.. Just needed a place to stay for the night while in town for a family event. The indoor and outdoor pool looked nice although I didn't use them. Hot breakfast was more than most hotels are offering at this time. Room was clean and comfortable.
Bed was comfy and room was very clean. Was very quiet in peaceful when in the room. Let us check in early. Hotel seemed renovated and smelled very nice. was a good value for the money. Decent lcentral location for Michigan's Adventure, Many beaches and state parks.
I got scammed the hostess tried to put us in a 10 x10 room a double bed barely fit in a small bathroom with a stand up shower. expected a jaccuzzi and a hot tub and fire place lady said we should not of used booking .com we left paid for another hotel
The location was excellent! Close to state and county parks close to Lake Michigan and Lake Muskegon. Shopping, restaurants, walking trails. Such a cute group of cottages! Each one with its own unique decoration.
This hotel was absolutely gorgeous from the inside out. The view alone from our hotel balcony was breath taking. Would totally recommend to any single, couple or family when choosing their hotel and room here!
