The location is great! The guesthouse is just below the tombs and opposite one of the oldest working hamams in the city. The owner was waiting for us, and we were immediately offered apple tea made from the wonderful apples that Amasya is famous for. We were escorted to the parking lot as the guesthouse is right on the most touristy street. The owner also recommended us a great place to eat - just across the river. The breakfast was amazing - homemade bread with butter and walnuts, apple jam, oranges, and petmez...

If there, see the tombs, museum, mosuqe, fortress (you can get there by car), walk along the river in the old town and enjoy the atmosphere. If you have a car, drive up the opposite side of the valley, have dinner there and enjoy nice views

I went to Amasya by bus.
I went to Amasya by bus. It was just a weekend escape from Ankara. I was amazed during my first day walk along the river. I recommend to climb the fortress (although it takes approx. 1,5 hour to reach the top on foot) and explore it thoroughly, to visit the tombs of pontic kings, the museum with miniature model of Amasya and the Amasya museum with nice archeological section.

The historical old town is lovely.
The historical old town is lovely. The tombs of the kings of Pontus and the historical old town houses overlooking the river Yesilirmak is worth seeing. Also, there is the tomb and museum devoted the legendary lovers that never made it together, Ferhat and Sirin. The local food is good and tasty.

Good to spend 24 hours in Amasya.
Good to spend 24 hours in Amasya. Wanted to visit the castle but the tunnel was closed for roadworks and our GPS would not find the alternative route. Climb up to the Pontic tombs early morning while its cool.

Walking the city in both morning and night is very beautiful. It has an amazing location with beautiful scenery. The light system at night gives it special atmosphere. The small old pazar street is very nice. It's definitely worth visiting.

The room is big, clean, and well decorated; the bed is comfortable; the bathroom functions well; the host is super welcoming and helpful, making us feel like at home; the breakfast is great; and the hotel is well located in a quiet neighborhood while being very close to tourist attractions. We especially enjoyed the beautiful garden, playing with the cute cats and dogs of the hotel, and having Turkish tea and nice discussions with the host and the locals in the night. We would highly recommend it!
