A Danube River gulf between Big Boilers and Small Boilers, a part of river navigable only in the last 70-80 years. Before 1970s here were the Danube's Thresholds, similar to Nile Cataracts. Now this area is 100-200 meters wide with epic landscapes. One side is Serbia and another is Romania. The village of Dubova is like 200 houses, some along the gulf shore but the old village is uphill.

The views speak for themselves once you're there.
The views speak for themselves once you're there. The only let down for me is that the nearest supermarket and transport links are in Orsova about 20km away. As a foreign visitor to Romania, It's impractical to get there unless you hire a car and let it sit idle in the hotel car park for the days you are there or pay for a taxi from the train station and stock up before you get to Dubova!!

The views of Danube are very beautiful in particular if you stay in a property with access to water, easy access to hiking paths, Decebal statue. There is just one very small food shop, several restaurants with OK food. No walking paths in the village (there is access to hiking paths during day). Also is important to know that during night this is a very noisy place with music from several places - a night club and some private places. We experienced this during each night of our stay (Friday to Monday in July), otherwise it probably will depend on the season and how lucky you are. Important to have correct expectations about it - it is not really a place for quiet contemplation.
