We had a great experience at Valea cu pesti. The location and view from the rooms is magnificent, right on the transfagarasan highway and in front of the Vidraru dam. The room and facilities, including pool, sauna and jacuzzi - all available to use at no extra cost- were very clean. Room had a hairdryer and bedsheets were of very good quality and clean. Staff were kind and very helpful, they offered travelling tips and we even found a bottle of local wine in our room on our arrival!

Such a quiet and unique location off the Transfagarasan road - which is a great place to see some European Brown Bears. Staff were lovely and friendly (especially the dogs) - the room was on the smaller side, but super comfortable and well designed - the bathroom especially! We also had a lovely balcony overlooking the forest.

We arrived later as got lost - we indicated the address in Waze and there is exactly the same address in another location, so be careful, better insert GPS coordinates or name of the property. The host was waiting for us which we appreciate!

The property was close for visiting Cetatea Poenari and the Vidraru lake and dam. Easy to get there on the Transfagarasan road.
A good restaurant with terrace was near the stairs of the Cetatea Poenari... I forgot its name...
I didn't like the bathroom and the bed I had to sleep into... at "Livada cu meri" motel: ugly smell, poor sheets, no double-faced blanket-sheet... ugly floor, no carpet on it... And for these minimum conditions, the price of the "special Queen's room" was rather high, I must admit... I paid less in other better places, during the same week...

Well worth taking a drive and exploring the countryside, and roads less travelled.
Remember to check bear season, some places are closed if safety becomes a factor. But, saying that, what pleasure to see the wild life!
