Lovely view balcony with afternoon sun dried our travel clothes quickly. The room was spacious but plastic/ outdoor mats were on the floor...soft carpet rugs would have been nice. The bathroom was unusual ... the vanity was open as was the shower stall...not luxurious at all. The rain shower head was out of place. The toilet and bidet did have a frosted glass door but very small space. Dinner was limited but a big finish with an awesome breakfast. Mixed feelings not awful but not overwhelmed either
Situated 300 metres from the Apulia Praia Beach, this hotel features modern, air-conditioned rooms with balconies. There is an on-site restaurant and a terrace for sunny weather.

Great location for the Camino de Santiago. Ni e hostel atmosphere and the choice of a private roo was nice. We were lucky to have a west facing balcony which was lovely for after dinner snacks and relaxing. Lovely little town. The host made good recommendations for places to eat.

The property was tidy, well sized and perfect for pilgrims. There was a lounge to socialise, plenty of space outdoors, a pool and the rooms had everything you’d need. The bed was comfortable with an easy to reach plug socket. The host, Sandra, was amazing and so so welcoming. After a few days of rain she was kind enough to tumble dry all our socks and clothes for us! The dog, Spot, is well deserving of his fame and was a sweetheart.

All the good restaurants are outside Esponsende - mainly in Apulia. A nice little hike or short taxi ride. Bridge to Fao needs some TLC, at least if you walk over it. Fantastic views, but the rusty bits on the footpath high above the water are somewhat anxiety-inducing (and I even heard that from experienced Camino walkers ...) Would not walk over a second time ...

Esposende was one of the best places to stay that we have had on this trip for the Camino de Santiago. The people that run the hotel are wonderful and very friendly. Everything is very clean and they have a great lounge with a good kitchen to make what you want. I would recommend them and their rooms to anyone going to that area.

We thought everybody had left town.
We thought everybody had left town. The whole place was strangely quiet and deserted. We struggled to find an open place to eat. It was early September. A lot of derelict buildings.
Just about good enough for a one night Camino stopover.

We are an elderly couple who have been to the area many times since 1975 and never tire of it. It has not suffered overdevelopment like many other resorts. It is a great place to relax and enjoy the food and laid back style . The surrounding area such as Ponte de Lima is superb so a car enhances the experience.

Esposende is a nice little town and a cool spot for kitesurfing. When I was there it was quiet and relaxing. I couldn't find amazing places for lunch or dinner actually, but some nice local patisseries instead. Having said that, there is some offer, just not to the level I was hoping. The coast is nice, the wind strong, people are nice too, and it is very close to other nice towns in the north of Portugal

Very nice place with nice sea and the special cakes from Fao. If you are in Esposende you have definitely to go to get some "Clarinhas de Fão". Fão is on the south bank of the river. You can find them in a very small "pastelaria".
A lovely clean hotel with nice decor throughout with friendly staff. Got surprise upgrading to include a balcony, looking down the street to the church.
Superb range of self service continental breakfast, varied breads, cakes, coffees etc.
As a big group arrived I was told no room for dining-in, but at the bar they offered pizza (2 types) had a long wait but was the friendly bar/reception staff looking out for me that made it worthwhile.
Indira and her father are super kind hosts. Indira even drove me to the bus terminal in Esposende on the day of my departure.
The hostel is quite new, located in a quiet area and comprises a garden where you can enjoy the meals.
The double room I booked was nice and clean, the bed comfortable.
The wonderful sand beach can be reached on foot in about 20 minutes.
All in all a hostel I can really recommend Hostel do Alto Fao.
The house and the garden is lovely and just 4 minutes to a brilliant sandy beach. Salvador is very attentive and wants everyone to have a great holiday.Esposende is a great low key resort with good bars and restaurants. Lots of beautiful towns to visit in the area and of course Porto is just down the coast, plus outlet shopping for those that need a shopping fix.
Warm greeting at reception with useful information provided to us in English. Plenty of space in our apartment with a well equipped kitchen and large supermarket around the corner. Able to make a home cooked dinner after many nights of quick fix meals. Large dining/lounge area and our room also had it's own outdoor space to relax in overlooking a large garden.
Hotel on the edge of town as enter town. Very easy to locate. Staff friendly. We were walking the camino & we were offered a little breakfast picnic as breakfast did not begin early. Close to restaurants. Air conditioning very important. Close to river so cannot leave window open in the evening. Hotel management advised us of same.. Air conditioning a bonus
This hotel was an excellent find and the staff were friendly and we felt very welcome and accomodated. Because of this we booked a second stay. When we returned a few days later and the staff at check in recognised us and even remembered the room we had. We had the evening dinner buffet and the food was excellent and a wide range of very tasty options.
The Esposende Guest House is situated in a great location, just steps from the boardwalk and the Camino. It has a lovely communal area with a large table and great kitchen. The outdoor patio is especially nice for sitting, eating or hanging clothes to dry. We enjoyed having the opportunity to meet other guests. The upstairs rooms offer more privacy.
small boutique type hotel, in a quiet yet convenient location. Welcomed by owners and treated like a member of the family. Breakfast basket full of nutritious and plentiful food stuffs catering to everyone’s taste. Presently doing the Camino and this was an oasis!
The hotel is right on the Portuguese
The staff went out of they way to be helpful
The river/ocean view is beautiful
I liked it so much I stayed a second day hikes through the national park
The hostel is really clean. I was really impressed by it. The separate room is big and has very comfy beds. Would definitely go back if we stop in Esposende again.
