The offered breakfast for Y1,000 was fantastic. Filling and a range of Japanese breakfast offerings. Location was good, with a bus stop right on the corner of the hotel location. Bus could take us into the city centre or up to the snow lifts but stops at 5pm, keep that in mind. Host was fantastic, always friendly and helpful service.

The proximity to the snow access walkway was fantastic. The local ladies also cook onsen eggs very near to the property. Shannon, the host, was so friendly, and helpful, and made us feel so welcome.

The accommodation is lovely, with spacious rooms, comfy tatami beds, and traditional pyjamas provided. The staff is super friendly and the breakfast is excellent. There's an onsen onsite and other options nearby. An excellent dinner is available at a reasonable price. Also, Tommy's Burger is across the street.
I read that some people commented on the location not being good. I'm not too sure what they were expecting. It's only a 15-10 minute walk from the ski field, and some equipment providers let you store your gear at the base, so it's a pretty easy walk.
I highly recommend this accommodation and would definitely stay there again.

Nozawa Onsen was readily accessible by fast train and a bus.
The Village had good amenities including a variety of eating venues.
A free shuttle bus went around the town and to the ski fields every 15 minutes. The ease between getting between the Village, ski fields and accommodation was exceptional. There was even a travellator for going up to the snow and back to the town. The snowfall was excellent particularly as our visit was late in the season in mid March.

Amazing ski resort with great snow and very friendly personnel. Everything worked nicely and the small town center is lovely.
Streets can get narrow so make sure you have parking in advance if going by car. Also check distance from ski lifts.

Beautiful, clean inn with wonderful hosts.
Beautiful, clean inn with wonderful hosts. Great common premises, especially the kitchen, which is great for breakfast (you can buy coffee pods at cost from the host). The futons were very comfortable. We hope to return!
Recommendation for future guests: try to make reservations for restaurants for your entire stay once you arrive (and the inn staff can help) to avoid lining up in cold weather.

Stick to businesses owned and operated by local Japanese.
Stick to businesses owned and operated by local Japanese. Those owned by foreigners are often over-priced with inferior service....sure you might get to speak English, but stay home if that's important...;)

Amazing and cute little village! Ski hill is great too (needs a bit more English signage). Be sure to book any of the nicer/better restaurants way in advance! These book out quickly (Aussies book these places out!)

An amazing and authentic Japanese experience.
An amazing and authentic Japanese experience. The rooms were brilliant and the Onsen was next level luxury. Made the whole ski experience a pleasure being just a short stroll from the Yu road travellator access. Highly recommend it
Had an exceptional experience at Nozawa Onsen, the owners went above and beyond to accommodate us while we were there. They helped us with gear hire, lift passes and restaurant recommendations. With the pictures of the beds being on the floor, I thought they would be quiet hard but they were extremely confortable - i had the best nights sleep! The location was right off one of the runs, making it an easy downhill walk home after a long day on the slopes. Honestly couldn't recommend Nozawa Peaks enough.
Location is 15 metres from gondola building, 100 metres from free shuttle bus stop,
Good drying room, spacious room, Japanese style breakfast and dinner also available
** Getting to Kawahiro**
There is a free shuttle bus that from the Chou Bus Station (usual arrival point) to the Nagasaka Gondola, the hotel is about 100 metres from this stop and directly opposite the Nagasaka gondola building. It’s a big yellow building with no English signage and the entrance is on the side of the building.
The property is larger than expected for the price point. We were pleasantly surprised with the cleanliness, breakfasts, and kindness of the owners! It is a 2-minute walk from a bus stop directly on the Nozawa Onsen bus line. You can either take the bus to Nozawa Onsen every morning for free or walk about 10 minutes. You can either sign up in the morning to use the bath in-house bath or you can choose from the many public onsens nearby. Great cost-performance hostel!
Traditional Japanese accommodation. The lady who runs this place is very sweet and did everything she could to assist us, despite us speaking no Japanese and her speaking little English.
The in-house onsen is great to soak in after a day of skiing. The laundry is free for guests to use and washing powder is provided. We did not have breakfast included in our booking, but we took a peek at the breakfast on offer and it looked and smelled delicious!
Very clean, high quality well finished Japanese style tatami room.
A few hundred meters walk from Nagasaka Centre and Gondola (the main gondola for Nozawa Onsen ski resort).
Bathroom was shared but you book the time to have it privately. There are two shower/tub bathrooms. There are toilets and hand Nadine upstairs near the bedrooms.
There is a very nice very small sauna.
Staying at the homestay was a delightful experience. The accommodation was comfortable, and the couple and grandma were incredibly attentive, catering to our every need. Their hearty meals truly captured the essence of authentic Japanese cuisine, adding an extra layer of warmth to our stay. Highly recommend for anyone seeking a genuine Japanese experience.
Our hosts Mika and Lucy were so sweet and kind. The lodge is perfectly situated near many restaurants, a 10 minute walk to the mountain and near the bus station. They serve a Japanese or Western breakfast for a great price. The lodge is exceptionally clean. The futon style mattresses were very comfy. We will definitely stay here again!
Perfectly located with easy acess to both the ski areas and the town. The gondola, ski hire, shops, restaurants, everything is a short, easy walk from the lodge.
Awesome breakfast, wonderful staff. The room, beds and doonas were all incredibity comfortable.
This is the perfect base for a skiing holiday to Nozawa Onsen.
Overall my stay here was mostly positive. The room had plenty of space, the bath was nice, and the staff was overall mostly friendly. They helped me get around Nozawa Onsen with a map and gave me plenty of tips around the town which I appreciated. They also gave me my ticket to the Fire Festival which was very helpful.
Hotel is close to ski gondola, staffed with locals (Nozawa onsen otherwise feels more like Australia thanks to many season workers). Room feels cozy and bed is very comfortable. Hotel has a vending machine with alcoholic beverages (beer, strong...) which is a feature as restaurants in the village generally close early.
This was our second time here, our first stay was in 2017. Very nice host, comfortable and spacious room (for Japan :). They could accommodate an extra bed free of charge for our son. Delicious meals but vegetarian only. Good location. Nothing to complain about.
Everything. The breakfast was great. The facilities were clean and easy to use. The main woman who runs the hotel was lovely and thorough. She gave us a baggie of hard candies for our ski tour one day which was so kind. Really wonderful experience.
Highly recommended! We traveled with two young kids. It was great experience staying at this hotel. Great location, great accommodations and breakfasts. Definitely come back again! Thank you very much
Excellent location. The hotel is exactly as advertised. Not luxurious but a clean, traditional style Japanese hotel.
Good breakfast and staff were friendly and very helpful.
