Mount Edgcumbe, hotel in Royal Tunbridge Wells

Mount Edgcumbe offers accommodation in Royal Tunbridge Wells, overlooking Tunbridge Wells Common. Guests can enjoy the on-site restaurant and bar, which also features an outdoor seating area.

From the moment we checked in we felt ‘at home’. The setting of the Hotel is sublime close to a wooded area with trails filled with birdsong! The decor is beautiful with various areas to sit including a ‘cave’! The breakfast included many options, all delicious! We had dinner one evening - well presented and also very delicious! All staff were friendly and accommodating sometimes going above and beyond what one would expect (I had a cold/sore throat and was supplied with ginger/lemon tea with honey without asking!). We also received a beautiful upgraded room when we arrived - again totally unexpected!! My husband and I would encourage anyone going to Tunbridge Wells to check out and stay at ‘Mount Edgcumbe Hotel’ - you’ll love it!!

Great experience, went to see grandson in show, but decided to stay overnight. Great place to walk round, nice architecture and variety of shops - scotney castle 10 minutes away One on the best places to eat from all places I’ve visited - the grill restaurant at the barn. Excellent food and great value, if I lived locally it would be weekly visit without a doubt.

    Pleasant town for sight seeing.

Pleasant town for sight seeing. Good transport facilities by local transport. There are a reasonable number of eating places and the usual Coffee chains offering refrehments. The Pantiles is the usual visiting spot for small shops and antiques. There is a central Railway with connections all over the country. Has bus and taxi services too. There is a local library in the town centre with an interesting museum. There is an extensive shopping mall as well. There are some parks and some hills that could be explored, all near the centre of town

It is a very interesting town.

It is a very interesting town. There are many fascinating buildings dating from the Georgian period, including the Pantiles. The shopping area, although small, has several quality outlets. The general vibe of the town centre is very good especially at night. Of course, Tunbridge Wells is set amongst beautiful Kent countryside. A great place to visit.

Despite the early morning cleaners - the noise was intolerable and we could have done with a lie in, considering we didn’t have to check out until 11 - we left by 9! We only had one night booked but expected more . For the price, breakfast should have been included .

We stayed at this hotel over the weekend and we’re very pleased with everything we found there. A very clean, quirky, quiet hotel with great decor, very friendly polite staff and our room was perfect ( superior king room). The breakfast was great, hot and very tasty! I would highly recommend The mount edgecumbe hotel.

The hotel was very elegant, and classy. It was comfortable and suited our needs. The toiletries in our bathroom were really lovely. The location was very near the town centre and station, and walking distance to our son and daughter-in-law’s wedding venue ( the reason for our stay). We only had breakfast but that had a good choice of continental and cooked. We had a smooth checking in procedure and good updates and messaging through Booking.Com. All members of staff were pleasant and helpful. On the whole we had an enjoyable stay.

We were greeted at this lovely cottage conversion by our host, who explained where everything was and what to do in the event of anything not working or other questions. The exceptionally well equipped kitchen had everything we needed to cook an evening meal and breakfasts. The two single beds were very comfortable and wfi included was useful to find things to do and see. The property is within a short walk of the Pantiles and the town, and is a good base for trips to many National Trust properties such as Chartwell.

Has large shower room - good shower. Quiet hotel - perfect for rest in the evenings to 6am. Has parking. Location is fantastic - 5 mins walk to town centre and just a 2 mins stroll to a Tunbridge Wells Commons bench! 10 mins walk to Pantiles. Plenty of choices from 10 mins to 1 hr 15 mins drive for outdoor attractions - parks, woodlands, castles, grand homes, seaside. Perhaps add a second armchair to enjoy a quiet evening in for watching TV or reading.

The hotel is in the old Tunbridge Wells West railway, which has been nicely restored and the “wild west” theme is quite fun. The location is great as it is only a short walk from the town centre and yet nice and quiet. There’s a Sainsbury’s superstore next door, too. The staff are all nice, friendly and welcoming helping to make my stay very pleasant.

Nothing to like about this Hotel it was an absolute dump, paid £506 to stay 3 nights dirty, grubby, run down with noisy dogs barking at all hours it’s a dog hotel also which we didn’t know when booking. Breakfast was poor and cold definitely wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone it’s a disgrace that they charge so much for this run down hotel

I liked the intimate atmosphere of this small Hotel. The staff were helpful, friendly and waiting of tables at mealtimes was accomplished speedily. Lovely breakfast and a good selection of beverages available in the room. I liked that there were local green spaces to walk to and the Pantiles and shops were not situated far away.

Beautiful room. Excellent bathroom. Quirky and amusing historic house in central Tunbridge Wells but surrounded by woods: a place full of character with an extraordinary 6th century sandstone cave as part of the bar/dining area. Very cheerful, friendly and attentive staff. Fun to stay there. We look forward to going again.

For the amount, the hotel is simply unremarkable! Super service from cool, kind and caring staff! The hygiene is remarkable and the place has positive energy ! I personally don't go anywhere else when I'm in town and I don't know what I could do with To be surprised even in a 5-star hotel
