Breakfast choices were good. We thought that the staff were very helpful and friendly. The room was comfortable and spacious. The village of Ravenglass had a very interesting history and is well worth a visit. All in all we made a very good choice for our short holiday.

Was unable to have breakfast as needed to travel very early to get to Scafell Pike
Owner was most accommodating with our late arrival.

Nether Wasdale was chosen because it was central to walking areas. Easy access to Wasdale head. The cafe at the sawmill was very good, it also had a shop. The area is remote so not at all touristy. We stayed at the Strands Inn which has a microbrewery, the beer is excellent. The evening meals were good. Its a long way from our home in Manchester to the west of Cumbria but worth the journey.

It advertises as pet friendly then tried to bill us for dog hairs being left in the apartment.
Mould on ceiling in bathroom.
Lots of flies in cottage.
Coffee machine didn't work.
Advertises as having sky but they didn't.
Wi fi wasn't great.
Dirt and dust under beds and couch, it hadn't been cleaned properly.
Stains on bed linen.
Not a holiday with so many rules and restrictions. It was a wooden floor that could be moped but your still told to take your shoes off at the door.
Too many rules and felt on edge.

It's a great part of the Lake District.
It's a great part of the Lake District. You can reach Wast Water lake from the accommodation and its a really scenic walk. Not overcrowded by tourists. Scafell Pike looms magnificently as a back drop to The Strands Hotel.

Nether Wasdale is a quiet location that provides a good base...
Nether Wasdale is a quiet location that provides a good base for walks long or short as it is close to the starting point for Scafell Pike. It's much quieter than other more popular Lakes towns, so expect to drive a short while to find other shops and restaurants. I will definitely visit again in better weather so as to take advantage of the beautiful Wast Water walks nearby, or just to enjoy the comforts the smaller inns offer.
We stayed at the Strands Hotel which has great food and local ales from its own microbrewery. A great little farm shop and cafe, the Sawmill, is great for a coffee-and-cake stop alongside a stream, and offers insight into the former industries of this quieter area.

Nether Wasdale is remote with fantastic countryside.
Nether Wasdale is remote with fantastic countryside. You need a car and to want to explore this amazing valley. There are parking spaces along Wast Water and walks. Going into the fells requires good map reading and a sense of adventure and is hugely rewarding. Visit St Olaf's Church at Wasdale Head.

Beautiful setting and base to explore.
Beautiful setting and base to explore. It is remote and a couple of days is a good length of stay because there are just the two pubs and not much else to do. We had not been before and we would visit again for a short stay.
The location is simply amazing with spectacular views and fantastic area worth visiting, multiple footpaths and a scenic lake. A perfect place to unwind and recharge your batteries.
The accommodation itself provides you with everything you need for a short as well as a long stay. The host is hospitable and passionate about his farm willing to share the story of his interesting life with the guests. Everything worked perfectly. Good value for money. I will certainly come back again.
Had stayed at Screes Inn many years ago but was currently being refurbished. So stayed at the Strands Inn opposite. Single room 9. Comfortable bed, good size bathroom with good size bath/shower with plenty of hot water.
Good filling breakfasts and excellent choice of food in evening. In my 3 nights had a superb Thai vegetable curry, very good Ale Pie and a Chilli Beef.
Great location for many nearby stunning mountainous walks.
AMAZING and idyllic location.
Wasdale lake is just a km away from the cottage which was a pleasant surprise!
Lots of hiking routes near the cottage and an ideal location for mountain climbing or water activities.
Very warm and homely feel, mostly clean and tidy, fluffy pillows and the beds were super comfy.
Superb accommodation in the most beautiful hillside. Mountains on one side, the valley in front of us and to the right you can see the sea. Signs up on the road and gate were very helpful to find the property. Very comfortable and clean - would highly recommend. The area was very peaceful and quiet.
The views are amazing and there is literally a hike right outside the door!! The property has everything you would need, just bring your food and wine. There are also lots of good places to eat nearby such as the Wild Olive and the Sawmill!
Location was perfect for all the Wainwrights around Wasdale lake. Some great pubs nearby too, particularly enjoyed our dinner at the Bowerhouse Inn. Our favourite place for breakfast was Woodlands tearoom very tasty and friendly
Nice hotel, convenient for solo travelers.
Restaurant/bar has a large menu and food portions are huge!! Home crafted beers.
Breakfast was good.
Options to have pack lunches prepared for the next day.
