The staff were great and we didn’t have to wait long at all for service. The spa was very good quality and it was a bonus that it had a bar connected, however, could have been improved by a roofed connection to the main hotel. The location of the hotel is great within a short walk of the lake and the village.

Continental breakfast was sufficient didn’t feel the need to order a cooked breakfast to start our day. View was fantastic, lovely that we had furniture to sit outside our room, spa was better than we thought it would be! Food in the evening was delicious!!

Our room was great.
Clean and the decor was class throughout the hotel.
Friendly staff nothing was to much trouble.
The food was excellent.
Just one minor criticism the plates could do with being hot as food went cold quickly.
Would definitely have a return visit.

Such a lovely village. Two pubs serving local beer.
Such a lovely village. Two pubs serving local beer. It was quiet, away from the hustle and bustle of Ambleside and Windermere. Walking distance from Hawkshead (20-30min walk) and similar distance from the ferry over to Windermere. I 100% want to return.

Location is good for Western side of Lake District as it is on west side of Windermere - access to Hawkshead and Coniston is good and also Grasmere and westwards. I chose this location for access to Tarn Hows.
Anyone wanting to visit Grizedale and Duddon Valley and Langdale will suit this location - Hardknott Pass and Wrynose Pass.
For Windermere/Ambleside/Keswick and North Lakes, stay on the eastern side of Windermere where the road is also faster and stunning scenery to Keswick.

Near Sawrey is a pretty village whose main draw is linked to Beatrix Potter. It is a must do for any fan of this much loved author but once visited, nearby Hawkshead offers more facilities in a cosy setting.
The staff where unbelievably polite and helped in any way possible nice to relax and chat with people,David was so down to earth and keeps a fantastic hotel the chef he employs is absolutely spot on the girls where fantastic at there job right down to the house keeper.the Gardner keeps beautiful grounds if you want to visit hill top farm this is the place to stay walk out the door across the car park book your time walk 200 yards and your back in time with Beatrix potter I will definitely be back to stay.excellent rooms and very clean
food was excellent throughout. Staff were very friendly, patient, and provided good advice. The hotel was relaxing and we very much enjoyed the lounge and bar. We were close to the Beatrix Potter house, and the local connections were good to other towns and villages in the vicinity. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom well equipped. The single room that our son used was a good size, and good storage, with a pleasant view.
Great location in Near Sawrey, with plenty of things to do nearby but far enough away from the busiest areas of Windermere. Near Sawrey is also nice itself, with a pleasant pub and a children's playground, as well as a nice short walk to Moss Eccles Tarn straight out of the door.
The apartment was nice, with ample parking, a nice living room and black-out blinds making for a good night's sleep
The view was breath-taking. you’d really get that old English town feel. It’s interesting that when you are in the Hotel, you could easily be whisked away and be part of its lovely history. Their staff, Angela was always ready to give tips on where to go and how to get there. Her personal insights were gold. She’s very warm and makes you feel that your presence in the hotel is appreciated.
The room was very comfortable and there was a nice guest lounge.
The staff were friendly and helpful.
The breakfasts and dinners were excellent.
The setting is beautiful with lovely gardens. You can walk from the hotel.
Very good value.
Exceptional breakfast.
Utterly charming inn; so quiet and pastoral.
Loved the little hamlet of Near Sawrey and especially loved the strong connection with Beatrix Potter, both at Ees Wyck and also up the hill at Hill Top.
It's a lovely little studio that has everything you need. It is very clean and nicely renovated. The area is beautiful, you can walk down to the lake through private hotel land.
