Room was set up for a celebration and Luba on reception was so helpful. Luba was great with pre-stay communication and timings on the day to ensure room was set up. Also the bar gentleman from South Africa and waiter from Cornwall were great, along with all the other staff.

Very friendly and helpful staff. The accommodation room was good - perhaps a small fridge would have been useful.

The location was peaceful with a slow relaxing pace of life.
The location was peaceful with a slow relaxing pace of life. Far enough from the city to relax and close enough to not feel adrift in the middle of nowhere.
Travelled for a friends wedding. Great location for nuptials.

Fantastic building, loved the atmosphere and history.
Fantastic building, loved the atmosphere and history.
Sadly though it was let down by the staff. We had a few good interactions with some the female staff but overall the knowledge, attentiveness and awareness of the rest was lacking.
Tried twice to speak to a manager so I could just have a quiet word and extend them the curtesy of a polite conversation but was dodged.
All in all absolutely great building but I wouldn’t be back for a while to give them a chance to train.
But if you don’t care about service and plan to hide away relaxing in the many seated corners then I would recommend it.

You don’t get the room you book get a standard smaller room but no refund on difference There was no social in the bar people were allowed to pull chairs up to table with more than six sitting together. Staff were just not interested when asked why room had been changed. Rooms slightly grubby dust on chairs. Menu was limited to three choices if half board which were not very nice

This could be a fantastic hotel/conference/function/...
This could be a fantastic hotel/conference/function/restaurant but only after a shake up with staff training, menu choices, and a sound knowledge of the industry. Standards are compromised and corners are cut. Lacking in attention to detail which, like most things will result in mediocre results.

The location was beautiful. We were very impressed with the stately country house and grounds. The history is so interesting going back to the 800's. Our room, although smaller than expected was comfortable, quiet and very clean. The hotel did take 20% off our dinner to make amends for the smaller room. It would be a lovely venue for a Wedding or special event.
Beautiful hotel and gardens with a fascinating history. Worth reading the whole story and evolution of the house going back to the 11th century, Elizabeth I, and Victorian times. Full English breakfasts in the sunroom overlooking the gardens was a treat. We stayed in the modernized stables, which includes plenty of parking hidden so as not to spoil the view.
The hotel was impressive. Comfortable areas to sit in. The gardens were serene, extremely well cared for and croquet was available.
Bar area was great, games available, plenty of seating inside and out.
Food in restaurant was perfect.
Bedroom was very comfortable and lovely size bathroom.
The hotel is very historic - it is grade 2 listed. There is a tree planted by Queen Elizabeth I on site. The whole estate is just very scenic. The breakfast and the bar were both very nice. I was there for a wedding. They had toys on the lawn for the guests.
Great hotel. Very friendly and helpful staff. We had afternoon tea and dinner and breakfast next morning and the food was excellent. Great selection of drinks too in the bar. Great hotel with great views and walks available. Highly recommended
A fantastic building with amazing grounds. You could do so much more with this hotel. Have a look at the Nest in Somerset, your buildings are more impressive, but see how they have used the buildings and land
The hotel was elegant from inside out. The room was cleaned. The property is huge and beautiful surrounded by garden. Staff are helpful. Good value for money.
Stunning Location, really beautiful gardens. A nice 40min walk is also signposted from the hotel.
With this location it should have been an amazing stay.
