The Balcary is a beautiful house in Hawick, Scotland, with such a wonderful history. It dates back to the 1880s. It was also a home for children during WWII. It has such beautiful details throughout. The room we stayed in was huge and had a beautiful large bathroom. The staff were wonderful. They made sure if I needed anything while I was sick to let them know. I would suggest a stay, but beware of hearing things that may not be there, such as the Ghosts/Spirits that also reside here. I would love to stay here again the next time I make a trip to Hawick.

Our room, and ensuite, were very spacious. We had views over the town to the countryside. The room was very quiet. Breakfast was delivered promptly and was delicious. Our host was very friendly and helpful. The Hotel is right in the centre of this historic town.

We loved the historic building and especially the warm fire in the dining room during breakfast. What a setting!

If you are looking for a quiet place that get you away from it all and has access to walks and areas of interest... go for it.
No shops... like at all... but as I said, there's access to other towns a short drive away and the bus routes are good.
The walking.... oh god.... beautiful. I went to wander and I got so much choice. Stunning places to see just a walk from the B&B. The locals were chatty and offered advice/suggestions on walking routes.
The cream puff cafe..... yum!!! I ate mainly in the Auld Cross Keys on an evening and the food was lovely. During the day it varied depending on where I wandered to.
It was a lovely little place I'd visit again.

Denholm is a lovely wee village around a central green.
Denholm is a lovely wee village around a central green. Great village pub, coffee shop, butcher & wee post office. It's an excellent base for a break in the Scottish Borders with walking, golf, cashmere stores & the famous Abbey towns all on its doorstep.
The owners and staff were very friendly / helpful and made us feel very welcome in the hotel. The food in the restaurant for our evening meal and breakfast was excellent and great value for money. Unfortunately it was only a very short stay but we will definitely go back at some later date.
The location was perfect for touring in the borders area.
Good location in Denholm a pleasant village in the Borders. Room was nice - ground floor with terrace outside (though adjacent to the pub garden might be noisy at busy times). Good bed, large room, bathroom very small but fairly efficient. All staff very friendly and helpful. Two good guest ales in the bar.
Just an excellent place to stay. The rooms are very comfortable and modern. The food is excellent and there is a huge breakfast available.
Friendly bar and staff. The Kirkstall beer is a really good pint. Good value if you consider what is available in the hotel.
Local bus stop right outside.
Lovely village setting. Hotel is tardis like, appearing small from the outside but extensive within. It has a good sized car park behind. The room was warm and comfortable. The food was excellent, served in a very attractive dining room by very attentive staff.
Very friendly all round!
Hotel was basic but spotlessly clean and comfortable and staff were very friendly and helpful. Food was lovely too especially the biscoff cheescake! Very pretty location too opposite village green.
Absolutely everything, this is exactly what a small hotel should be, warm, welcoming, great food, spotless accommodation, at a very reasonable cost.....superb.
Lovely comfortable hotel with good standard of cleanliness and Covid regulations'
Friendly and helpful staff and great food both at dinner and breakfast
