Clarendon Hotel, hotel in Jesmond

Clarendon Hotel offers 4-star accommodation and is situated in the city centre of Newcastle. The hotel features a restaurant and an art-deco style bar to create a contemporary, relaxed atmosphere.

The only plus was the hotel room was very large and spacious but extremely dated and appeared run down. There was an extremely over powering fragrance in the hallways of the hotel that smelt of lynx Africa and wafted into the rooms and through the aircon/heating system that gave me a headache and irritated my throat. I was unaware there would be live music playing on a Wednesday evening so it was not at all relaxing to stay here. The room was clean and spacious expect the dusty curtains and was a fairly good location. However If I had of know how dated this place was I wouldn’t have bothered staying, I feel the information about this hotel is a bit misleading and it’s actually a bit of a depressing dump. I previously stayed at Lucky hotel down the road, it’s cheaper and 100 times better, wish I had gone there again. Disappointed.

As an overnight transit stop it was okay.

As an overnight transit stop it was okay. Late in and early out. However this accomodation is at a licensed pub and there were some not so desirable people hanging around the carpark and on the street

The place was new, near to Jesmond Central which has a lot of restaurant, 3 groceries and very near to the Uni. It has very fast free wifi. Very secured place, passcode for main door, lift and the room. I will definitely come back and highly recommended place. Only needs to update their info on booking.com, it's advertised as no wifi included. Thanks.

We expected to see a reception area on arrival to pay and organise parking - booking in was very confusing - would have liked more details on the booking confirmation message. The keypad systems didn't always work and were really frustrating to use. Location was fantastic with shopping mall and lots of eateries. Accomodation was excellent.

    Fantastic food in the restaurant.

Fantastic food in the restaurant. So much better than you might think from the outside. All really fresh and good portion size. Rooms are very basic but clean but if you want modern bathrooms, spacious rooms and special decor then you’ll need to pay more elsewhere. Great value.

I did not understand why they asked for a security deposit,, normally hotels don't do that and the confusion they created by this made me ring them 4 times and ring the bank and their final say was the money probably did not get charged when you tapped, but when I tapped the receipt came out. So i don't know what's going on. and if you paid the security deposit in cash, you will have to pick it up from the people that you have paid to, which is hard for people who live far. What an experience!

It’s a beautiful apartment my kids loved the upstairs downstairs concept and the beds were also amazing the furniture lovely to but quiet sparse no outdoor furniture in the terrace which would have been amazing as the weather was perfect, the issues we had were from the bathrooms neither toilet worked. And when calling reception to let them know they shrugged it off. Imagine 2 children crying because they can’t use it. They still hadn’t fixed this prior to us checking out was very disappointing and that is why I would think twice before booking again

The staff were honestly so amazing! Have never come across such friendly staff like this. Made me feel safe when I was travelling as a woman. The meal at the hotel was really good as well, best chips! They know how to pour a beer which is awesome! The room was as expected, budget style but TV and air con worked well and shower had good pressure! Bed was quite comfortable. Perfect for a stop over or just wanting a bed and roof over your head.

The accommodation is set behind the hotel in a separate building accessible only with key access. The room I was in was on ground floor and was very comfortable and quiet with very good block out curtains in room. Plenty of parking was available and cash deposit of $100 was immediately returned upon a quick inspection of room.

Hotel rooms were like some having a drink at night and taking someone for enjoyment. No attached toilet/bathroom, it was like staying at some open facility where anyone can come and use the bathroom. No security, no service.

LUX Jesmond was obviously a new build. Only little things yet to be covered like coat hangers and a hair dryer. Easy to find and access, the area felt safe and it was not too far from the local shops for supplies.
