Mieliefontein Karoo Guest Farm, hotel in Hanover Road

This accommodation is located on a very large farm property in the Hanover district, 7 hours’ drive from Johannesburg. It features an outdoor swimming pool and landscaped gardens.

The gardens were exceptional. Although the owner was not well her daughter met us, and we were given braai meat and salads to cook ourselves. Absolutely delicious. We left early so did not have breakfast. Furnishings are dated, but comfortable.

AshTree GuestHouse, hotel in Hanover Road

AshTree GuestHouse is a recently renovated guest house in Hanover, where guests can make the most of its garden and terrace.

I and my wife stayed there not first time. Sometimes we drive from Cape Town to Johannesburg and back. And when we found this place we always stayed there. Just recommend it to everyone. You will be absolutely satisfied if you one or few nights to sleep, or to rest from the big city, and you also can use braai area in the garden. Hosts are very kind family. Apartments beautiful, you have all amenities, kitchen, your car will be in closed parking. Just book this place and don’t search anymore. You can find my other reviews to this place and others. We are traveling a lot and this place absolutely our favorite.

A very short detour off the N1. As we arrived after dark - we had a hot meal and a lovely fireplace waiting for us in the dining room . Warm electric blankets for the cold Karoo nights. Breakfast was also available for us the following morning . A great host (Hanna) was in communication with us at all times . A really great stay !

This is a hidden gem in the Karoo.

This is a hidden gem in the Karoo. It is halfway between Johannesburg and Cape Town. Guests will not believe that such a place exists. It is much better to stay here than in Hanover should you want a quiet stay. Too much noise off the highway with the continuous trucks passing through the town 24/7.
