This area is beautiful, with magnificent views of the Gariep dam. The local community is working hard to make the town a welcome place for visitors. The town was clean (no rubbish littering the streets), staff at store and service station very friendly. Would definitely recommend a stay over in this beautiful part of South Africa

We booked the Studio apartment.
We booked the Studio apartment. The room was spacious and the kitchenette was a bonus but the 1 window didn't have a curtain and a light shone in all night and the generator for loadshedding was a bit noisyClaire Muir - 10Scored 10

A lovely little spot right at the orange river. Friendly staff - easy check in, all infos been provided upfront, We booked the self contained cottage and that was the right choice as the cottage offered comfortable space and a wooden deck right at the waterline as well as good privacy. its not a 4 star hotel setup but we didn't expect that at all but all was clean and functional. One could say its a rustic setup with some years at his shoulders but still well looked after. We stayed two nights to get some rest between long haul driving and we got what we were looking for. Location great, good clean unit. There is very little help from the staff. We stayed over, looking forward to a warm shower and breakfast before we leave. And had no water, could not make contact with the number provided. Low and behold the power went off after 1hour of no water. No provisions made for power outages. Eventually someone phoned back.. just srugged there shoulders and said, we do not know. Not willing to help with anything, can't even flush the toilet. Goodness not the best shop over.. They did not even phone back as promised. No care attitude. I would not recommend this stop over, especially if you want to leave early in the morning and looking a comfortable place. Really need to be better prepared for power issues.. and no water - unacceptable.

Beautiful location right on the river.
Beautiful location right on the river. The dam and town are only 15 mins away. It is secure and serene. It is quaint and peaceful. We only stayed the night passing through on our way from CPT to JHB but we would definitely stay here again, it was lovely.DDanSouth Africa - 8.0Scored 8.0
The dam is spectacular and impressive.
The dam is spectacular and impressive. You should cater to see at least one sunset and one sun rise. Drinks at the Hotel with stunning view. The Aloha we stayed in, was like a museum and told the story of people who lived there, in the time when the dam was build. We loved it. (I worked at the SAPolice museum for years and have a appreciation for history)
