The setting is close to the Augrabies falls and other attractions. The host makes you feel very welcome. The braai area and other amenities were excellent. The kitchen is fully equipped....whatever you need is there. We also loved the fact that the property teamed up with other local businesses, and one could buy produce directly from inside the unit. Most importantly.....WORKING AIRCONS!

Our host was very accommodating. This is not a real lodge, there is one large room and a patio connected to the main house that is positioned as the lodge area where guests take meals and can have a drink at the bar

Well, the water flow wasn't heavy as I thought we should have waiting till rainy seasons, nonetheless, my trip was good and I wish to see big 5's in my next trip, I did not ask if they have guided tours or it's self drive only.

Augrabies Falls was a highlight of our 5-week visit to South Africa. The earlier downpours had closed the game drive, moon rock and dassie walk, due to water damage. But the falls were spectacular and well worth the trip on their own. We spent 3 hours walking along the banks of the Orange River and then had lunch on the shady restaurant deck, with little monkeys running beneath the tables.

Augrabies falls was something amazing.
Augrabies falls was something amazing. I travel all over South-Africa, and Augrabies is on the top 3 of my list of most breathing places. The view is spectacular, the air is fresh and the trip through the Karoo was the cherry on top. Everyone is helpful, friendly and a pleasure to be around. I'll recommend it to anyone and definitely do it again despite the 10 hour drive from where I came from.

The falls were amazing to see.
The falls were amazing to see. Many advantage points to view the falls from. Interesting game drive, although animals are challenging to see. Augrbies falls park has a resturant, ablutions and chalets with pools. I would assume it becomes crowded in the busy season. Great area with many citrus and raisin farms

What I liked about the place was the absence of crime.
What I liked about the place was the absence of crime. I would have liked a bit cruise and a game drive but that could not happen because of the high level of the river and damages of the floods. I wish that information could have been provided then I could have planned better.

We have never been to the Northern Cape including the Augrabies Falls. The reason for the visit was to specifcally see the Falls as we knew the Orange River was flowing strongly.
We arrived at Avonsrus and used the Lapa Braai area to cook supper.
It was easy to get to the Falls as the turnoff to Avonsrus was on the same road that takes you to the Augrabies National Park. As this was our focus and had limited time we didn't explore the rest of the area.
Looking back I wish I had planned an extra day or two to explore Augrabies and its surrounds.
The location was unique. The lodge was the only building in tens of kilometers. The Augrabies terrain is very rough. Daberas can only be reached via a 50 km dirt road with fences that have to opened and closed and that is en adventure in it self. We made splendid trips in the surroundings amongst which the unique Oranje river.
The service was friendly and good. Meals were included, they were of good quality and prepared after consultation of preference. Daberas is a unique lodge. There is not a soul in all directions.
The guesthouse exceeded our expectations. The units were modern and clean. Very close to the Falls itself. As a bonus, our unit was serviced every day. There is an honesty bar with drinks and firewood. We stayed in the two-bedroom family room with an outside fireplace to ward off the cold while visiting with friends. During the day, you can access the pool with deck chairs and towels.
This is a real gem in the Northern Cape, and I will definitely stay here again if in the area.

The food was absolutely great. The setting and surrounding is stunning. The atmosphere at dinner was that of a typical farm community getting together and having fun. This was one of the most pleasurable stay-overs we've ever had. It's also within a few minutes of the Augrabies falls -- which is why we were there.
The rooms around the pool are well appointed and very comfortable.
Staff are well trained and commendable for their service.
Facilities are clean.
Food was well prepared , and we enjoyed the meals.
Great loaction, with easy access to a runway and Augrabies falls.
Was initially difficult to find the location, but Henry and Ockie stepped in immediately to get us there quickly and safely. Hosts went above and beyond to ensure that we enjoyed our visit to augrabies and our stay with them.
De Oude Stoor is very well located close to the Augrabies National Park. Rene, the manager, was very welcoming and friendly. The unit was comfortable and had everything we needed for a self catering one night stop over.
The location was ideal for what we want, which was to see Augrabies Falls. The staff went above and beyond the call of duty making our stay on for the memory books. The room was massive, and had old world charm.
The Staff were wonderful - friendly and professional. The dinner was lovely. The room we stayed in was spacious, and the bed was very comfortable. The location was perfect for our visit to the Augrabies Falls.
This was one overnight stop on our way home from Namibia, and I wanted to see Augrabies Fallls. The location was perfect, but the resort has a lot more to offer for future reference.
The small details and luxuries... Aircon, braai with nice patio furniture, feeling safe and could relax. Around the corner from Augrabies Reserve park. Absolute gem of a place
Great to be so close to Augrabies National Park. I loved my apartment which had all amenities: aircon, lovely bath, dstv channels, good beds, impressive kitchen.
The location was hard to find and I would recommend sending future guests a map to get there after turning off the main road from Kakamas or Augrabies side.
