This is one of the highlights of our two week trip through parts of Alaska. The Salmon hatchery is an awesome place to see bears feasting on Salmon, and the museum is very interesting. We definitely could have stayed longer.

The Glacier Hotel was very clean, and the breakfast was the best complimentary breakfast we have had during our 3 week stay in Alaska. The view of the mountains and the harbor was breath taking.
We ate at Mike's Place. Food was ok, but very pricy. The halibut was about 40% higher than any other place in Alaska that we experienced in the three weeks stay from Fairbanks to Homer.

The museum was interesting, the port/marina has many varied boats to look at, the town has some interesting shops in it, and a decent amount of eateries available. The weather was horrible and we were told if you hit a sunny day you are very lucky. I imagine if you could see the surrounding mountains it would be impressive.

Fantastic hiking, biking, wildflowers, parks for kids, scenery. Great fishing. Fabulous kayak trip. Difficulty eating out due to COVID limits, bring food. No indoor activities at this time due to covid. Get out and play, with bugdope.

Beautiful scenery no matter where we went, friendly folks, ate at Oldtime Diner, good food, and the Fat Mermaid, another good place to eat for reasonable price. Wanted to go on fishing charter, but little bit too pricey for my taste but maybe next time when fish is actually there.

Beautiful harbor surrounded by mountains and glaciers.
Beautiful harbor surrounded by mountains and glaciers. Loved kayaking among the icebergs in the Valdez glacier lake. Fun watching Salmon run. Wish had more time so we could visit Prince William Sound and hike the trails. Spectacular scenery from Worthington Glacier to Valdez.
Friendly, helpful hosts who warmly welcomed us into their home.. Conveniently near the harbour and downtown with ample parking onsite. A spacious, shared downstairs area solely for guest use, included lounge with massage chair, and dining/kitchen area. The kitchen had everything you needed and the breakfast supplies were generous and varied. The room with its own ensuite was a decent size, bigger than some hotels. Laundry facilities were available with detergent included.
We loved our trip to Valdez! This hotel really sparked our interest regarding its history. This hotel was fairly centrally located. We still used our car to get around for the most part but nothing was more than a 2/3 minute drive. The room we were given had a set of two twin beds and a king bed as well as two separate bathrooms. It was very spacious for just the two of us! The staff were very welcoming and kind. Overall, we had a great experience!
I like the breakfast included. That is better than I expected. The hotel staff gave me a omelet with sausage that taste better than most other breakfasts I had in other hotels for my Alaska trip. The small apples, while does not look great, actually is some special apple that taste great. I would have missed the opportunity to taste this apple not available in lower 48 big chain grocery stores.
The hotel is conveniently located right in the center of Valdez. It doesn’t look like much from the outside (in fact, it looks like some sort of barracks), but the interiors are cozy and perfectly fine for a budget hotel it is. The biggest positive surprise is the breakfast in the morning - with an awesome chef who makes you omelettes or waffles, and is extremely kind.
Nice big rooms with a hot bath. Nice breakfasts.
Tony the breakfast man is a HUGE asset to this hotel. He is friendly and helpful and nothing is too much for the guests. I think he really takes delight in helping people and waking up to a cheerful man adds that special magic. The reception staff are also A++++
Room was specious and clean. Staff of the hotel is very kind and helpful. There is an option to do laundry in the hotel. Breakfast is available but don`t expect too much (at least for someone who is from Europe ;)). Good wifi.
The location is incredible and the staff was nice. We were allowed to check in several hours early. Valdez is a hidden jewel--we could have spent several days there instead of an overnight.
good beds, clean bathroom, friendly staff, I recommend the hotel it has a good location, and good size of rooms, and the breakfast is good, it has eggs and bagels
