We were in Newberg visiting George Fox University.

We were in Newberg visiting George Fox University. I really thought it was going to be a lively little college town. However, the downtown is only one street. There were very few options for eating, and many of them didn't have space to sit down. We ate at a taqueria on the main street which was really wonderful food, but actually our only choice because it was the only family friendly restaurant open. Really nothing for college students to do in this tiny town. I think it's in the middle of wine country, but if I was visiting the area for the wine I would stay in another town.

Located in the heart of wine-country and easily accessible...

Located in the heart of wine-country and easily accessible from Portland. The town offers plenty food options. Other interesting thing in the area are Dahlia fields (September/October). Pinot Noir is the attraction and worth sampling. White wines are more scarce, but most wineries have a Chardonnay or other white varietal. Most of the top wineries require a reservation to visit for tasting. Many also offer tours, making the tasting more interesting (2 hours or so). When visiting Newberg the lodging options are varied and many: The Allison Inn is top rated, but the food there is average. Check out the many B&B's that offer much more personable and reasonable options.

We came to town to drop our son off at George Fox University. Newberg is a nice little town with beautiful outdoor terrain. There were a lot of good places to eat, and any stores a college student would need, Fred Meyer, Safeway, grocery outlet, walgreens, etc.

Newberg is a very friendly town.

Newberg is a very friendly town. The only issue was the injustice I experienced at the travel lodge. The ecosystem is prime and the water is super clean and refreshing. My favorite spot would be the community pool on Hawthorne and Villa. Also, the visit through the Allison was exquisite! Also ate at Muchos Gracias. Had a huge juicy Chimichanga with a Hot champorada.. delicious shredded chicken.. was great! The Champorada was a little pepperminty and thick, and it reminded me of the kind of hot chocolate we used to have when we were kids😃The Carrie an bbq was mouth quenching. The Rocket gas station has friendly service and gave me great directions to experience things. Hoover park was breathtaking scenery and historical. The Jen 100 ice cream lounge, drive-in theater, and old Cameo are also uniquely historical. I really like Newberg’s old town with the older store fronts that give a unique character. Lot of historical Victorian houses that are beautiful and elegant as you don’t see every day anywhere else. My favorite bar is Old Town Newberg bar and grill! Very down to earth kind of people with moral and churches plus lots of convenience for those passing through. Two solid colleges running strong. George Fox is one of the best colleges people from all over the world come to attend. Worth the visit. Definitely.

No toilet paper holder in bathroom.

No toilet paper holder in bathroom. TV remote not working, and no replacement batteries available. (Michael of the staff was very helpful in getting us another remote). No coffee available for the coffee maker. They were "out". Room key not functioning for access to the pool. An entry sign required masks by all over 12 years of age, but no one was wearing a mask inside.

The majority of Newburg is not very cute but it has a lot to offer. All of the surrounding towns are cuter (Dundee, Carlton, etc) but don't have as many amenities so we found ourselves going back to Newburg for things we couldn't get elsewhere. The actual historic downtown is pretty cute with coffee shops and boutiques and the surrounding area has some good restaurants.

Everything was so clean! The appliances all worked well and the location is away from the busy trafficked road so you get that peace you need. The owners are caring and attentive and the staff is friendly and hard working. This was truly the best hotel I have ever stayed at. They made it feel like a home and not just a hotel. We even ended up staying an extra night.

really nice and updated interior of a “farmhouse” 3-bedroom rambler on lovely country site near the Old Schoolhouse venue where we came for a family wedding. nice large driveway area for ample parking of cars, lovely front porch with chairs for sunset viewing. also Adirondack chairs in shed allow for comfortable seating outside in the lush lawn!

The location just outside the town of Newberg is very convenient to the wineries that we intended to visit, while being more quiet and peaceful than the town center. The property is clean and well-maintained. It feels new. Everything is in excellent condition. The owner is great in responding to messages promptly.
