We stayed at Gulf View Resort. Jen, at the front desk, made us feel very welcomed and went out of her way to help us find gluten-free restaurants on the Keys. The room(s) were extremely clean and we loved the location and the spectacular views right outside our bedroom windows. We had an outside patio which was a great place to watch the sunset. The pictures we saw on line are true to what we actually had. What we saw is what we got!

Marathon is a great stop before going to key west or if you want to fish or do activities. KW isn't a great destination for that. Marathon is much quieter but also closes early.
I'd much rather stay in Marathon for a longer part and do an overnight in KW.

Went to Bahia Honda State Park - beaches were ok.
Went to Bahia Honda State Park - beaches were ok. They offer paddle boarding and kayak rental there. went on several trails, which were nice. Went on the old 7 mile bridge (cloudy day), but didn't get to see sunrise. Drove out to see mini deers and got to see a glimpse of one (it was not near sunset or sunrise, which is the time they recommend you go to see them).

The place was definitely NOT a resort.
The place was definitely NOT a resort. Very run down, pool was nasty and cloudy and the place doesn’t look nor feel clean. Tons of construction during the week and rather terrible if I wanted to sit outside and enjoy that “water view “ which was, not much of a Waterview. It’s a canal in between two concrete walls. Paid too much for such a not so great motel at best!
Loved location on Marathon Key, which is central amongst the keys and that it was on the water with its own marina and kayaks to use. There was a nice pool and ping pong table. Each unit is its own elevated bungalow facing the water. Felt like a treehouse! All the pots and pans for cooking and pool towels were included. Reception offered free use of bikes, games/puzzles, corn hole, and tennis/shuffleboard equipment. Each unit had its own grill and laundry machines. Everyone sits out by the water to watch the sunsets!
Very kind staff (including the sweetest dog). When we arrived it was raining, so the guy at the reception changed our cottage, giving us one with an internal bathroom (so we don't have to go out in case of rain). Spacious cottage equipped with everything you need. Marathon is an island in the Keys that's more in length than width, but the cottages are about halfway in a great location. A stone's throw from the sea. Recommended, would go back.
Our room was very spacious and clean. The location was great because we were not too far from everything that we wanted to do. The view was breathtaking and right on the water! The breakfast that was served was top notch. The resort also has a hot tub which helps with working out the aches and pains of the activity and travel. One of the oldest resorts in the Keys and well worth the money!
Classy and peaceful resort. We had a room with a sea view and it was bliss to sit out on the sun trap balcony in the morning. Our stay coincided with a cold snap so the spa pool was very welcome! Also enjoyed going for cocktails at the on site bar and loved the hotel cat which one day miaowed outside our door! (But understandably they aren't allowed in the rooms so I had to go out to it!)
The Skipjack resort was everything we needed for our little trip to the Keys. Very convenient location, room was spacious & bed was very comfy. The swimming pool area was the highlight of our stay there. The seats & beds are perdect for relaxing after a long day of exploring under the Florida sun. Breakfast was freshly cooked every morning & very good. I would definitely come back
Rooms were clean and comfortable. It felt like you were staying in a guest room at a friends house. I loved sitting on the beach and walking out to the end of the dock to drink coffee in the morning. They had corn hole boards, bicycles, kayaks, scuba gear, chairs and umbrellas all for free. Nice outside courtyard with fireplace and outdoor lighting.
Excellent location for a trip to the keys. Driving to key west takes approx. 1 hour, other attractions are in the immediate vicinity. Probably the cleanest rooms I have ever seen in the US, plus very spacious. Overall a great hotel and we will definitely consider to stay here again when coming to the keys.
Great staff, pet friendly hotel. Old keys vibe. Ice machine was broken but they gave out ice from front desk. Hotel is older, although clean. Grounds could use to be cleaned more often. Overall, good for the money. The staff at front desk is so efficient and friendly! We will be back!
Excellent outdoor area ~ pool, bar, sunbeds. The sea view is amazing. Complimentary bike hire so make sure you cycle to the old disused 7 mile bridge. The room was very spacious and modern. Laundry facilities were useful for us. The nicest hotel on The Keys that we have stayed at.
went to see Key West for family vacations. We chose Marathon location for stay. very happy with chose. very clean rooms/ bedlinen/ easy check in ,out / . free parking/ amazing views around/ . definitely come back again. no pressure from staff. chill and relax
Location! Directly on the beach. Pool area was great and pool heated. Cabana huts with chairs were awesome too. Very quiet around resort except some music coming from next door club but they turned it off after 9PM.They also had some breakfast options.
2 bedroom apartment huge, lots of space and lovely kitchen area overlooking the dock, pool and sea. Nice pool area and free kayak use. Not far to porky’s or Florida keys steak and lobster for great food and watch sunset at 7 mile bridge
We stayed in Marathon as a little stopover between travelling the Keys. The rooms were very comfortable, large and well looked after. lovely shower!
The staff were brilliant, and the beach area was a lovely addition.
Lights at night were a nice addition, everything else was nice and charming.
I was at the hotel 6 years ago and came back to the keys now. We hope
to come back again.
Nice comfortable place to stay whilst in the keys! Pleasant staff. Quiet rooms, very clean. Easy access to and from Hwy 1, central location to most things in Marathon.
