Hotel itself was very nice but people should have been told that staff was running late so they didn't know what time that breakfast would be ready. People were waiting 15+ minutes before someone said something. I'm thinking what if wanted to catch a bite before they headed out for an appointment. That 15 minutes could have caused them to be late. At least post a sign as soon as you know something so people can make other plans. NOBODY wants to be left wondering. It's understandable when things beyond someones control happen but it's not acceptable when you have control over a situation and you don't communicate.... a simple sign would work.

Friendly comfortable relaxing but a little pricey. . For sure a place to reconnect or rejuvenate your relationship, it's clear you're mind. Ghost shops were kinda the same but overall I really hated to leave.

I loved Helen. This as our first trip.
I loved Helen. This as our first trip. I did not realize the amount of shops closed during the off season (end of January) However, We still had a really good time. Loved how quaint. ALL of the people were friendly. My favorites on this trip was Heidelberg, Hancel and Gretel candy. And then we topped the evening off over at Bettys across the street on the patio with some really , really tasty beer. The people and the bar tenders were so friendly. It seemed like we were all friends for a long time.

Don’t come to Helen when it is raining.
Don’t come to Helen when it is raining. And, there is not much going on in January other than the Christmas decorations are still up. There are some nice restaurants but they are all pretty expensive (over $40 for two sandwiches at lunch). All the shops downtown are way over priced, as I have seen better quality in some junk stores. We didn’t buy anything - just window shopped. The little park on the hill is nice and there is some free parking there. Almost all other parking is paid, traffic is awful and cops are everywhere anxious to issue tickets.

Helen is a quint German themed town with interesting shops and eateries. You can park and walk around to most of the stores. Some of the stores further away from the town centre are too far to walk, but there is plenty to keep you busy for at least day. A river runs through town which offers tubing and other facilities in summer. We visited over the Christmas weekend Dec2023 and the lights on display were beautiful and magical. We returned for this reason. On the town square musicians were playing Christmas music and other themed entertainment were provided. The town and restaurants closed by 6pm on Christmas eve, which was unexpected but it added to that wonderful feeling that Christmas was sacred. So be aware that only one or two restaurants were open late for dinner. We attended the Christmas Eve Communion Service at the Helen Presbyterian Church. This was special. It was a rainy evening but the lights all over town were magical and being so quiet it gave enough time to look at the lights a few times. Overall Helen is worth a visit for a weekend. Do not miss the Christmas lights.

Alpine Helen is a picturesque, authentic German town, which made me feel like I had crossed the Atlantic and gone right back to Germany!! It has several excellent German restaurants, wonderful shopping, and all the charm of Europe in its German architecture. We loved every minute of our time there at the Christkindlmarkt!! We also enjoyed Hardman Farm’s Victorian Christmas, a hike to gorgeous Anna Ruby Falls, and Babyland (all very close to Helen)!
Location was good. We parked and walked the entire time. We booked and checked-in within 30 minutes through booking.com after our first hotel in Helen was not what we expected. We had a suite which was large and clean with a balcony overlooking a nice park that was decorated for the holidays. Great place to let the kids run off their energy. Also, there was a dollar store within a 2-minute walking distance for those last minute items. It was the perfect stay for us during the holidays. We would stay again.
This hotel is within walking distance to all the main attractions of Helen, GA. It has beautiful landscaping in the backyard facing a flowing river with gorgeous private homes behind.
The staff were helpful and friendly - true southern hospitality. There was a delicious, hot breakfast served every morning with ample variations every day. We really enjoyed the privilege of making fresh waffles with the waffle irons they had at the breakfast location.
This clean and charming hotel is tucked away on the edge of town so it is very quiet (unless it’s Oktoberfest). That said, it’s still in walking distance to everything. The owners are fantastic and personal. They light a fire pit each night where many of the guests congregate and get to know each other. There’s an outdoor pool table and cornhole too. They even put a TV outside to watch the football game! There’s no better place to stay in Helen!
The rooms were remodeled and lovely. The location is awesome and it is directly on the river. There are swings to enjoy on the river and a small access area as well. The location is also great for walking to downtown Helen...perfect if you don't want to drive everywhere. We would stay again.
The only positive thing about this hotel was the location & the gentleman working the front desk upon arrival. It was very close to downtown Helen, so we didn't have to drive far to get out. The man who checked us in was very friendly and informative.
The breakfast was good and everything on the breakfast bar was well stocked. The room had plenty of space, even with a king bed. Overall, very pleased with the motel and it's convenient location to the downtown area.
Personnel was friendly and helpful by recommending many activities and restaurants in the area. Room was clean, including the bathroom, bedsheets, and towels. Beds were comfortable and AC was not very loud.
The front desk attendant was pleasant. The location of the hotel was great. Within walking distance of downtown and a little off the main road. Plenty of parking and would stay there again on my next trip.
The service was excellent, the reception was very good, Hanna is super polite and helpful, we loved her, the breakfast was excellent, the room very clean, helpful staff, we will return without a doubt.
It was a very nice place, a few blocks from downtown. Clean, comfy. Helen is really decorated beautifully in early December and the hotel was basically across the road from some lighted decor.
It was in walking distance to downtown Helen. Owners were very nice. Breakfast was great and we got to meet some nice people. First time in a Bed and Breakfast we will be going back again.
We go to Helen every January and stay at this hotel. The staff are always friendly and the room is always clean. The walk to “Downtown” is very short. We will stay here again next year.
What a great place. Location was perfect, just a few minutes walk to downtown. Staff were great. This is a top notch hotel. When we go back to Helen this will be where we will stay.
Room was not properly cleaned. Trash in the nightstand drawer and dust on the lamps. Sheet had a stain but was clean. Location was very nice and close to everything.
The house was large and accommodated our party of 11 well enough. The location/neighborhood were very close to downtown Helen and surrounded by beautiful scenery.
