We took a Golden Ticket Trolley tour, which was a lot of fun and informative. Zak and Mac's Chocolate Haus really does have the world's best toffee. And Rao's General Store had a great selection of salt water taffy. The history museum was well done.
We ate at the Bavarian Inn, which is an experience in itself, but I have to say the food was hit or miss. They had a great cranberry salad, perhaps the best I have ever had. We also enjoyed the potato-cheese puffs that melt in your mouth, but we were not impressed with the chicken.
Be sure to see the interior of St. Lorenz Lutheran Church.

We have been to Frankenmuth numerous times.
We have been to Frankenmuth numerous times. This time we visited the area with all of the little shops and especially enjoyed the crepe shop, Cherry Republic, and Great Lakes Olive Oil Company. We enjoyed walking the River Walk and visiting St. Lorenz church on a self guided tour. We also shopped at the Cheese Haus.

The concept of Frankenmuth is lovely, lots of quaint shops and Bronners Christmas store. Although the architecture tries to live up to a Bavarian village, the comparison stops there. The town has made itself into a tourist trap with lots of water slides and over priced restaurants claiming to provide traditional German family dining. Instant mashed potatoes, waterry noodles and over cooked vegetables would have never been on the menu at any German family members table in my family. Do yourself a favor and skip dining in Frankenmuth, I think a pizza would have been a wiser investment and enjoyed more.
We did travel in January so we expected snow but the sidewalks were thick with slippery ice. As a tourist town, one would expect that the town keep the walkways safe for pedestrians especially in the main downtown core.

We went looking for a Hallmark Christmas movie setting and found it in Frankenmuth! Easy to navigate by foot if you like walking. Dress warm and wear comfy warm footwear. The tree lighting, attention to maintaining an old world feel in the town, horse drawn carriages (approx $80) and unique shopping areas were perfect. Visitor friendly with public restrooms in town. The town pretty much closes down by 10pm each night which is actually ok and seems to fit the setting. MANY restaurants and places to eat. Zehender's was BUSY and there was a 30 minute wait even with reservations. Plan ahead. The restaurant itself was STUNNING and so festive. Grab a coupon book and map from your hotel. The covered bridge was beautiful and easy to walk thru. Bronner's (the worlds largest Christmas store) was packed. We got there before it opened and still stood in line to get in. Plan on spending a lot more time and money there than you think, lol! They do ship for reasonable prices and pack well to protect. Everyone there is SO nice. This town really knows how to get you in the Christmas spirit!

Frankenmuth is a great place to close to the Detroit area to get away. If you like shopping, food, great scenic walks, Frankenmuth is for you! Of course, Bronner's is an absolute for anyone going to Frankenmuth. We were there three hours and did not even realize it, because we were having a great time. We topped it off with great food and great shopping at Zhenders!

I loved walking around town.
I loved walking around town. It was very easy considering I use a rolling walker.
The shopping and food is outstanding. They offer something for everyone.
Frankenmuth is magical in the Fall. So beautiful!
Such a safe and clean area.
I can't wait to visit again.
Our annual "pilgrimage" to Frankenmuth for the Christmas music at St. Lorenz and to finish up holiday shopping in town and at the Outlet Mall. The incredibly reasonable rates at the motel give us that much more money for shopping. It's exactly what we want, simple, clean, conveniently located (near Bronners) and the breakfast that is included starts early enough that we can just grab a bagel and yogourt and be on our way. Far better than paying twice as much at a chain hotel.
We liked the overall feel and atmosphere of Marv Herzog Hotel. The staff was friendly and helpful, the facilities were clean and well kept and the location was just perfect for the what we wanted to see in Frankenmuth. We enjoyed the balcony with river view, the breakfast that was included as part of our stay, and the off-street underground parking was a nice plus. Great way to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. We would stay at Marv Herzog's again!
the Holiday Inn is perfectly located in downtown Frankenmuth across from shops. Great breakfast and staff were very nice and accommodating. we had a group of 30 stay here to attend the 80s fest. As the organizer for our group, the front desk staff were organized and made check in speedy for our entire group making my job easy. One person in our group commented that he never checked into a hotel so fast. Awesome. would stay here again.
Hello, my husband and I enjoy Frankenmuth very much, but we have never stayed at this hotel, I love my pools and I knew your hotel did not have one, so I wanted to see what you had to offer, we enjoyed the river view, the total quietness and scenery, I think this is going to be my new place to stay! Thank you for a wonderful stay.
Farmhouse was the perfect getaway with family! Super cute, and plenty of space for everyone, including our canine friends 🧡.. We loved our stay here, and we recommend it if you are looking for a relaxing getaway with family just outside the city of Frankenmuth.
We really did like our stay at the Drury Inn.
Room was very comfortable and the size was perfect with a king size bed.
My only quip was that there were no hard boiled eggs for breakfast- we prefer the hard boiled to the undercooked scrambled kind.
Great place at the edge of Frankenmuth. You can walk to anywhere you want to go. Clean room and friendly staff. One of the few hotels in the Michigan area not trying to price gouge with fees equivalent to 50% of the room rate.
It was very clean and the staff was helpful. Very close to all the important stores. we where able to walk to everything we wanted to do. We will go to the hotel again. And tell our friends about it.
