Breakfast lacked variety and choice. It was well presented but it was standard each day

It was a beautiful small town. The people were friendly. Great restaurants and several things to do for entertainment. We took a ride on the tygarts flyer train. We ate at McDonald’s Subway and the Steer Steakhouse. We used iPhone for directions to get to all the places we wanted to go to.

Getting across the two lanes from the hotel was difficult as there is not a stoplight. The town itself is very congested so getting through was difficult and a lot of places on the main streets were hard to find parking.

Elkins is a beautiful small town.
Elkins is a beautiful small town. Lots of restaurants that have pick up and delivery. The mountain views are similar to PA so I think it's beautiful. Walmart is close by for trips to pick up what was left at home. Great Italian food at Beanders. DQ had friendly staff and fresh food. KFC had fresh hot food and friendly staff as well. Many in town are wearing masks and there's lots of sanitizer available.

Nice typically American small town, but not much to see in the city, except few blocks around the train station.
On the other side, the city is well situated in the region; you can reach within one driving hour places like: Seneca Rocks, Seneca Caverns, Durbin Train Station, Green Bank Observatory, Snowshoe Resort, Cass Train Station, to name just few of them.
Recommend for a regular or extended weekend getaway, but not for a whole vacation.

We were only able to stay one night which afforded the opportunity to try local brewery Big Timber brewing as well as the 1863 Grill. There are other things to check out but unfortunately did not have the chance to check out.

We were there for the Polar Express train ride.
We were there for the Polar Express train ride. The train ride was fantastic. I was traveling with 3 kids so we did not go into any of the shops downtown. Overall people seemed very friendly & helpful through the town. The only negative I can offer is if you have a Verizon cell phone you will be on roaming as they have no Verizon cell towers anywhere near them.
I loved my room with the king size bed that was very comfortable with the view of the mountains and I loved the huge shower with the glass sliding door. Most hotels only have a shower curtain and I hate when the shower water gets on the floor. And breakfast was nice. Eggs, french toast sticks to dip in syrup, yogurt, make your own waffles, fruit, different juices, coffee or tea, and a few other choices that I can't remember but breakfast was nice.
The location is beautiful, we enjoyed driving up and down the road for dinner every night and seeing the foliage as it's turning autumn. Austin and Hannah were very prompt whenever I had an issue with the room. Which was amazing because it made us feel heard. I have a few irks in the "what i didn't like" that aren't really bad but they're for the informed traveler.
All of the staff were helpful and friendly!
The accommodations were perfect! I grew up in this town and remember the Tygart in many forms.
I love the adage to the Timber and rail history of Elkins and surrounding areas. My grandparents were part of the Wildell boarding house hospitality! Love that Elkins has risen a bit!
This is our hotel of destination when we visit this area of West Virginia. The hotel is conveniently located to our planned attractions and there are plenty of restaurants and shopping areas nearby. The value is great for the price. Hotel staff are always friendly and helpful.
Conveniently located for downtown Elkins, if a little bit hard to find. Great breakfast! Very comfortable beds. Staff were friendly and extremely helpful when there were issues with our room (see the less good points).
Love the history of the place. Meticulously restored interior and privacy of the place. Hosts are very welcoming and provided me with eggs from the coop in the front yard. Overall, I enjoyed my extended weekend visit.
Breakfast was adequate, and different each day. As for the view, we had a great view of the parking lot, but the hotel did have an outdoor space that overlooked the town. We used it several times.
