Lovely, spacious, clean, updated cottage. Nice furniture, appliances, and household necessities. Perfect size for 4 people. Pet friendly. Beautiful fenced in yard with Jacuzzi Spa. The property was much nicer and roomier than we expected.

This townhouse was close enough to Ashville to visit the Biltmore Estate and other Ashville sites as well as being close to mountain road access to go drive the Blue Ridge Parkway! Good point- right on Smoky Mtn Parkway.
Good point- right on Smoky Mtn Parkway. Bad points- under renovation, very dusty, lot of space under the door, curtains did not close all the way, very messy and overgrown with weeds right outside rear windows. Not very accommodating in an emergency-charged full price only though we were in the room for approximately 15 minutes. Time to change clothes to attend a memorial service.

we enjoyed our stay and actually stayed an extra night. everything we did----from shopping at ingels to getting subs from subway was enjoyable. and the scenery is quite BREATHTAKING. we even saw two hot air balloons in the morning on the way to breakfast. plus, the pool was super clean and refreshing. very friendly staff.

We chose Candler, because it is close to Asheville, yet in the middle of nature and away from the hustle and bustle of the city. It was a 5 minute drive to the nearest large grocery store, 12 minutes to the arts district, 15 minutes to Asheville town center.

We found this town hard to navigate.
We found this town hard to navigate. Street work had recently been performed with the street identifying signs removed and the street signs had not been placed back, so the streets were unidentified. We got lost because of the unmarked streets. By the time this is posted, perhaps the street signs will have been placed back.

Our stay at the Gatehouse was great! The beds were comfortable, but after full days of hiking we pretty much passed out at the end of our day. One of our sons even slept on the couch and he said that was comfortable too. Breakfast was really good; it's not the usual buffet. They also offered a free dinner, which was surprising - I didn't partake of it, though, so I can't speak to its quality. Although the hotel is located on a busy road, it's set off on a hill behind some trees, so you don't hear the traffic.
