They are great families style community will welcome you, but will not tolerate any trouble. This is a place is were you come to think slowed down relax and retire. Not as much as you expect to see but enough to fill your cup with that early morning cup of peace. Having traveled extensively around Texas, other states and abroad the wineries were overly priced for what you would expect in a town this size and location. Disappointed in this aspect of the town, otherwise other businesses were accommodating and friendly. Other points of interest were enjoyable.

When i walked into the lobby i was greeted by the welcoming smell of curry and cigarettes. The pool was unfortunately cemented over for the season, so no swimming. I stayed at the super 8 thinking that I'd be murdered by a masked killer, but was joyfully surprised to find that I'll probably die from all the mold that was in the hotel room. All in all its the best place to stay if you're in Athens texas!JasonUnited States
