Nice and pleasant hotel staff. We had a breakfast included at a very reasonable price. A room was clean, bathroom included. I recommend.
Scenic views over the River Minho and Spain can be admired from this fortified area of Valença. Surrounded by historic village walls, this peaceful hotel has a panoramic restaurant and a bar.

Despite its decadent appearance, it serves its purpose. It's a comfortable hotel with TV and AC. We just wanted a place to stay as we were attending a wedding nearby and it served its purpose. It was also clean! No notes on that!
Located in the center of Valença, Hotel Lara is an excellent base for exploring this historic town. It features modern rooms with balconies and a breakfast room overlooking the fortress.

Location is really good. Close to the muralha and the room was amazing. Amenities are incredible and the bed really comfortable. I had a hard stage in Camino and had a perfect night stay in Lara to recover my energies

An absolute gem in a very central location within the fort walls. Lift access made for easy entry to the room. Rooms quite small, but lovely decor which made it feel more roomy. A communal kitchen in the centre of the building was very welcome as could make tea etc and could store things in the fridge. Would definitely stay here again.

Valença is a lovely town half of which is still inside the fortifications. The restaurants and shops are friendly and accommodating the views from the fortress are beautiful. A word of "warning" the food is amazing and the portions HUGE!

Loads of shops selling linen, towels and leather handbags.
Loads of shops selling linen, towels and leather handbags. restaurants a bit pushy but all part of the experience. If staying in the Pousada, hold your breath as you drive through the gateway, very very slowly!
We arrived before the posted check-in time but we were kindly accommodated by the man who plays cello who came in early to check us in and gave us the wonderful suggestion to visit Fortaleza, (the walled city) in Valenca, which was amazing. Enjoyed a delicious meal and bottle of wine for dinner and a generous, lovely breakfast in the morning. Our room had a view of the Roman bridge!
Very friendly and helpful owners and staff. (Thank you, Diogo)
Beautiful place in the middle of nature. There was a pool and whirlpool! Oh, and the bathroom had a rain shower!
(Ah, and though the restaurant and hotel are separate, the people from the restaurant were amazingly friendly and helpful as well! Thanks also.)
Very friendly staff. Clean and comfortable and for Camino pilgrims in particular it had a bath. No food in the evening as such but great restaurant 20 mins walk down the road - very dark on the way home although I’m sure some residents managed to get a lift from the hotel. Good breakfast.
The price for the room with breakfast was really amazing. It is true that the hotel has seen better days and some of the equipment is very old, but for a room with breakfast and a free swimming pool and free parking, walkable to the old fort village, the value for money is excellent.
This is a gem in Valenca! Right in the old fort and on the Camino. So clean and smells amazing. No reception but received all the codes beforehand.
Kitchen has no stove but everything else you need.
Comfy bed, bright, modern.
I'm so glad we chose this location to have our rest day.
Really loved the setting. 10-15 minutes walk from Valença so very peaceful. Very comfortable, clean lodging, nice grounds and a friendly, hospitable owner. Bed was very comfortable too, with great kitchen facilities if self-catering.
Our room had a nice view of part of the city. The breakfast buffet was very good with a great variety of foods! The view from the breakfast room was great. Enjoyed the hotel location so close to the walls.
The room was modern and comfortable, the dinner was very good as well as the breakfast, and the staff was very kind. Another plus is that the hotel is located a few meters from the entrance to the Old City.
A perfect place for a night's stay before Valença. Ana has created a place that is incredibly welcoming. The pilgrim's dinner was very good and everything was just perfect!
Great location, next to the Valenca fort and near restaurants including a wonderful Indian restaurant. Near Lidl. They let me check in an hour early which was very kind.
