Very spacious apartment (too big for me as a solo traveller, but it was the cheapest hotel left). Well equipped and comfortable. The host was very friendly.

Modern and bright hotel. Ideally located to explore Funchal being close to the coastal path and regular buses. We were bed and breakfast but did go for some evening meals. The food was good in a buffet format. The room was big with a kitchenette behind some doors which we did not use. The bed was comfortable and the air conditioning did its job although noisy on high. All in all we had a lovely time and would consider returning.
Hotel Sirius features a rooftop terrace offering panoramic views of Funchal’s picturesque city centre. It has free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel and offers spacious accommodation with private balconies.

hotel Sirius is right in the heart of Funchal, so everything we needed to see or walk to was super close. Our room was clean, veranda was spacious. Breakfast was simple, and that was all we needed for the start of the day :). We are very happy with our accommodation choice.

Uphill there is nice small bar/restourant of local food.
Uphill there is nice small bar/restourant of local food. You need cash there to pay. Good not expensive national food, especialy tasty local vine. Local people do not speak English, even in restourant, but friendly and warm. Very good place to stay for hiking,

I am not sure if it was at the hotel we contacted a vomitting virus but as soon as we got home we had it for several days. I guess this is very infectious and difficult to control

Curral das ferreiras is very quiet, peacefully and tourist friendly.Ideally if you want the quiet after a day from touring the Island . Definitely you need a car to travel to other places in the Island . We stayed there 3 nights of our holiday that was perfect.

Curral das Freiras has breathtaking mountain views and i would highly recommend staying over one or two nights to do some hikes. We hiked from our accommodation in Curral das Freiras to Pico Rivo and then to Pico Arieiro (and then back to Curral das Freiras). This was quite a long and tough hike (with massive elevation gain), but well worth it. For a shorter hike you can either stop at Pico Arieiro (19km in total) or just do peak to peak which is 5.6km (although I am not sure if Pico Rivo can be reached by car so you might have to do the walk back to Pico Arieiro as well which makes it 11.2km in total and you'll average 3km an hour.

This is a wonderful place especially for the price. The location is stunning, the rooms are very well cleaned, staff is friendly, and the all around atmosphere is just very relaxing and special. Very nice dining room and swimming pool. The hotel is a bit older but efforts have been made to bring the room up to modern standards, such as a big tv and a lovely walk-in shower. I can think of some little things that could be improved (to really bring up the standard to top notch) but that would likely also bring the price up and out of my range.
The apartman is very well situated in the middle of village named Curral das Freiras. The whole building is after full reconstruction and therefore the apartman is equiped with the latest modern style furniture and electric devices. We lived on the second floor. I would recommend this apartman for families with enthusiast hikers because it's reallly great starting point. Mrs. Isabel is very polite and she helped me with all my quires. Thank you!
The house is big and spatious, there are two terraces, it has a wonderful view over the valley, and it's in a very calm area. That is all worth driving up there to Curral das Freiras every day (around 25 mins from Funchal). It is also fully equipped, there's probably anything you might need. The owner is very kind and helpful she responds very fast. We would definitely come there again !
This is our second visit to this hotel. This time hotel looks very dated, in need of face lift, refurbishment. Looks like nobody really cares, no feedback form, no complimentary water in a room, no mini bar, dated pool, dead, dusty flowers around the hotel, uneven, creeky floor. It looks and feels old and unloved. If not for restaurant our experience would be very sad.
It is a new building, located in Curral das Freiras, very nice valley with the view of the mountains and good weather almost all the time. Restaurant ls are around, and you can start very interesting hikes from here. You can even go walking to Pico Ruivo.
The owners are very responsive, we had a problem with hot water, and they acted quickly.
Great location with excellent views. Staff were really helpful and friendly. Onsite restaurant was also really good. Overall a great base for exploring the mountains. I have seen some reviews complaining about facilities - yes it's not a 5 star luxury hotel but you arent paying those prices. Would certainly stay again
Friendly staffs, very big room with nice view from balcony, comfortable bed and pillows, room was cleaned everyday, nice breakfast, it’s possible to ask for early breakfast from reception, restaurant open until 10pm. There is observation deck near to this hotel with view to Villages of Nuns. Free parking.
I liked the stunning location, overall cleanliness of the rooms, friendly and helpful staff and waiters. I am merely stating my negative impressions so the hotel can improve but I will say that overall I had a nice stay at this hotel and would most definitely return
This is the perfect apartment to use as a hiking base for the Valley of Nuns (Curral das Freiras) and surrounding mountains. Apartment is fairly basic but has everything needed and was so perfectly situated. We would definitely book this apartment again.
Excellent location with superb views from our bedroom and the hotel generally. Very friendly and helpful staff, and great food in the restaurant. The hotel was spotlessly clean, fresh and airy. Highly recommended.
The location was exceptional and allowed us to get up early to go to Pico Aeriro at sunrise. Views from the hotel are world class and all the bedrooms have a good view.
The location and the view are amazing... perfect if you want to hike or run around Curral das Freiras. The apartment is perfect for a family. The hosts were helpful.
Very spacious apartment (too big for me as a solo traveller, but it was the cheapest hotel left). Well equipped and comfortable. The host was very friendly.
