Set among mature trees and surrounded by the Southern Alps, this beautifully restored local landmark has been transformed into a resort with outdoor swimming pool, tennis and petanque courts.

The Hot Pools are a great drawcard, always popular. Some great restaurants, cafes and bars. Lots of trees, provide welcome shade in summer. Plenty of walking and cycling tracks. Water sports - rafting, jet boats, fishing etc. Craft market on a Saturday. Always a busy place for locals and tourists, so book early.

The Mountain View’s were beautiful and the walking track...
The Mountain View’s were beautiful and the walking track varied from easy to difficult. The town was very pleasant, clean and well taken care of. The pools were wonderful and especially enjoyed being able to swim laps in the big pool which was never crowded. Overall it was a very pleasant place for a vacation

Hanmer Springs is lovely.
Hanmer Springs is lovely. This motel overpriced, cheap and nasty. False advertising using "premium".
Hanmer is popular but don't resort to booking at this motel if you find others booked out.

Nice small village with plenty to do.
Nice small village with plenty to do. Many walking and bike trails, nice shops and the Thermal pools were great for all ages. Plenty to keep families amused.
The whole town had a nice vib.
The down side would have to be the cost of eating out at the cafes and restaurants.

Great thermal pools.
Great thermal pools. My wife booked had two sessions in the spa rooms - a facial and a massage - while she was doing that I ventured on the new waterslides (at the age of 71) - they are now included in your admission charge. As we we were staying for two nights, we booked a two day ticket to the pools, this is good value and it's great to be able to pop to the pools early in the morning when there are fewer people around.
One evening we had a good meal at the Hanmer Springs Hotel (where we stayed), the second night we tried the Spice Village Indian restaurant, which I thoroughly recommend.
Great lunch one day at the Powerhouse cafe - by far the best cafe in Hanmer in my opinion.
We also went on the quad bikes at Hanmer Attractons - we were able to choose a quad buggy which is a two-person vehicle. This is well organised, with an instructor/guide who puts the emphasis on safety.
Comfortable suite with a terrace facing really pretty gardens and the mountains beyond. Comfy king bed. Huge bathroom supplied with lots of towels and toiletries. Some cooking facilities. Microwave, kettle, toaster, dishes, cutlery.
Quite clean and efficient. Walking distance to town and hot pools. Hanmer Springs is a sweet town with lots of nice restaurants, bars and shopping. Access to hiking is fabulous. We did Mt Isobel... gorgeous views!! The information centre is very helpful. Definitely would recommend that you stay here.
This is a great option when visiting Hanmer Springs. We were driving from Dunedin to Abel Tasman and it was great to stop here, spend some time at the pools and then head up to the B&B which is just a 2 min drive away. The room was very comfortable with a great shower as well. It comes with a continental breakfast, perfect before we continued on our way, with cereals, toast, spreads, tea, coffee and juice. They had some great dinner recommendations, we ended up at the Powerhouse and it was amazing, so highly recommended!
This is one of the best motels we have stayed in. From the moment we arrived the hosts made us welcome and pointed us in the direction of local things to do which was very helpful. They upgraded us to a superb suite with great views and lots of space. Very comfortable bed and a great wet floor shower. We will definitely stay there again. It was on;y a five minute walk to the hot pools, cafes and restaurants. We were able to park our car and walk for our three day stay.
WOW!!!! We had stayed in some pretty amazing motels over our week away but then we got to the Settlers Motel and we were blown away by the apartment we had. It was clean, beautiful and even little chocolates placed nicely on our beds against some small pinecones.. Just added to the beauty of the place...
The hosts were AMAZING, so welcoming and accommodating.
I recommend this motel and look forward to another stay there one day.
The place is opposite the Hanmer Springs water park. It’s is very handy for the shops and restaurants and also on the trail to the lookout point.
The room was nice and met our requirements. The room had dining and a breakout area near the tv, so plenty of space.
The staff were very friendly and offered us to use the hotel towels for the water park which was very kind as we had checked out.
Great to be so close to everything.
Kids loved playing in the grounds and the morning breakfast! People complain on here about the range offered, but so few hotels offer breakfast anymore, it was great to have it! The kids loved the choice and the toast machine!
You can order/pay for real coffee at the bar too.
If you’re a large family or two groups, you could book joining outside cabins.
Each chalet was well appointed and comfortable. The location is close enough to the Main Street of Hanmer Springs, but yet you feel like you are well away in your own quiet space.
The views of the mountains were fantastic. The daily newspaper was something you don’t get much anymore and it was great to read the local news while enjoying a coffee each morning.
The staff member was very friendly and hospitable. The room was spacious with excellent facilities and was in a pleasant garden setting. It was centrally located do the cafes, bars and restaurants of Hanmer Springs, and the thermal pools. There was a variety of walks to do around the town. The town itself was vibrant without being overly touristy.
Oakview was amazing. We have travelled to different places around the world and this was right up with the best. Everything has be thought of. Luxury fittings, dark curtains, comfortable bed…the list could go on. Close enough to walk to all Hanmer Springs has to offer. We will be back for sure.
Loved the huge rooms, with magnificent views looking towards Hanmer Springs and mountains.
Very private outlook from our room.
Very comfortable bed.
Lovely large enclosed shower.
Not that we used them but indoor and outdoor spa’s and big open fire place add to luxury feel.
This place is so special - one of the most relaxing and well tended motels we have stayed in NZ, would stay here again in a heart beat. Our cottage overlooked the golf course, all facilities are well appointed and thought out and spotlessly clean and the gardens are immaculate.
It’s a good value room to stay in Hanmer, good location, only few minutes walking to everywhere including spa, pool, restaurants!! Good shower, strong pressure. We even have extra towels for our activities. Staffs are nice and friendly, tried their best to help you
service was fast and efficient. check in and check out was fast. parking right in front of hotel with many food options right around the hotel and you can walk to the main hanmer hot springs attraction.
The hotel management is very nice
Our room been having lights on and heater on when we arrived, it’s cold now in the night time in winter
So we’re very happy and thankful with that
More space than some motels we’ve stayed at in this price bracket. Continental breakfast included in the price. Clean and comfortable. Short walk to the springs.
