Unfortunately the weather wasn't great for our visit but we still did all the things we wanted to do for our trip. A little disappointing that there weren't more choices for cafes eating out, quite limited.

A very relaxed environment, with lots of family friendly activities. Lovely beaches, bush walks and close to other interesting towns and coves. It's connection to the history of Captain Cook was fascinating

An excellent place to stay if you are interested in Captain...
An excellent place to stay if you are interested in Captain Cook's voyage to New Zealand in 1869. The Endeavour was anchored here for 12 days to observe the Transit of Mercury and had numerous, mostly positive encounters with local Maori from Ngati Hei. The whole area is spectacular with the added bonus of sites of enormous historic significance. These include Kupe's landing place (Whitianga) so it is a beginning point for Maori and Pakeha.SeanNew Zealand
