Fly to Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, then take a direct train to Delft (60km, 40 minutes). Alternatively, from within Netherlands, use the extensive train network. For a scenic route, consider canal or river cruises.
The most convenient airport for Delft is Rotterdam The Hague Airport, due to its proximity and direct transport links. It's approximately 15 kilometres away, making it a quick and easy journey for both domestic and international travellers.
Delft, Netherlands, offers a variety of public transport options. The city's tram and bus services, operated by HTM, provide extensive coverage. Delft's central train station connects to major Dutch cities. Cycling is popular, with numerous bike rental shops available. Walking is feasible due to Delft's compact size. Driving is less recommended due to limited parking.
The historic city centre of Delft is the best area to stay, offering a blend of charming architecture, museums, and restaurants. It's also conveniently close to the main train station, providing easy access to other Dutch cities.
Beautiful Like a Porcelain Doll
Delft is a picturesque Dutch city with canals and historic buildings, situated between Rotterdam and The Hague. Birthplace of the famous Dutch painter Johannes Vermeer, this destination is also home to the iconic Delft blue porcelain and the University of Technology.
Like a phoenix from the ashes, the 17th century Town Hall of Delft was destroyed on 1618 and rebuilt by the architect Hendrick de Keyser. Located across from the City Hall in the centre of the Market square, the Protestant church of Nieuwe Kerk (New Church) with the imposing tower is connected with the Dutch Royal Family.
Resting place for Piet Hein, Maarten Tromp and Johannes Vermeer, the Oude Kerk (Old Church) was built in 1240 and is one of the main landmarks of the city along with the Prinsenhof. Booking.com offers a variety of apartments and hotels in the centre of Delft.
The Delftware factories with the blue ceramics and the hand-painted porcelain are definitely something that travellers should not miss while visiting the Netherlands. Weather permitting, you can enjoy a local beer on a canal terrace.
Amsterdam Schiphol Airport is about 40 minutes away by car or public transport. Delft railway station has train connections to Amsterdam, Utrecht and Leiden.

The town is so unique, churches to visit and beautiful squares surrounded by restaurants and cafes. Lovely places for brunch in the mornings and for beer in the evenings. The atmosphere in the evenings is wonderful. It is easy to get around on foot. the view from the New Church roof top is spectacular, tho the 300+ steps are not easy. Recommended eateries are Kek coffee and Delfts Brouwhuis

Delft is a nice size, easily walkable for the main part.
Delft is a nice size, easily walkable for the main part. Train station to the centre is 15-20 minutes maximum. Plenty of hotels, good restaurants of all cuisines, Dutch, Indonesian were ones we tried, but there are French, European, smaller snack-type bistros too. We spent just a couple days in Delft, but the Vermeer Centre and Museum Prinsenhof were well worthwhile, spent most of a day in each. We could have spent longer in Delft.

Central or old Delft is well worth a visit.
Central or old Delft is well worth a visit. It’s on a human scale. The two big churches are beautiful, the working windmill is charming and the Vermeer Centrum is interesting. We particularly enjoyed how peaceful the town is, with great crested grebes, coots and other waterfowl swimming in its serene canals. Cyclists outnumber motorists and the town has a youthful atmosphere owing to the university. Shops and restaurants offer very good products, food and service at reasonable prices. Above all, the people are very helpful and friendly.

Delft is a lovely place and I hope to take my wife next time as the food, bars and atmosphere in the centre was lovely.
The many bars and places to eat will suit most people and they are all (well the ones I tried) were reasonably priced. I will certainly go back again - and hopefully not involving a business trip.

lots of history and wealth, as well as blossoming tech research. loved the climb up the tower of the "new-church", scary, felt like touching the clouds. it was interesting to find out how local politics evolved around water management as a crucial part of life.

In view of my review of the hotel, I would recommend Delft but not the hotel particularly because of the noise issue and disagreeable frying smells in the morning.
If those things get sorted I will be happy to book at this hotel again.
We stayed here for a very decent price. The room was modern and had some tea/coffee making facilities which is always great. We could park the car in the nearby parking garage, which is a short walk away (but you have to walk outside so will be affected by the weather).
The hotel is not far from the city centre so one can walk there (you have to cross at least one busy road).
The wifi worked well enough on our phones.
It would have been nice to stay longer in Delft so hopefully we can come again!
Location - easy walking distance of station and tram stop to The Hague outside hotel. Also near centre of Delft with cafés and restaurants. Breakfast in separate building was excellent and room was smart. Staff always helpful and attentive especially with the failure of the hot water in the annexe. Also being able to leave luggage before and after stay.
I love how close it is to the square. The rooms are great and the staff is AMAZING! They made sure we were in a room that faced the square, giving my husband a perfect opportunity to do a time lapse of beautiful Delft! We will always stay at Hampshire Hotel for business and pleasure.
The Hotel has a perfect location in Delft on the picturesque and lively Beestenmarkt Square.
Our double room was spacious, the bed very comfortable and the bathroom facilities first class.
It is a very clean and well run hotel with the reception staff very welcoming and helpful.
The location was great as was the breakfast. Plenty of choice. Friendly atmosphere in the Hotel. Felt like we were in the centre of the action and also easy access to the churches, other Monuments and markets in the square. The charm of the hotel matched the charm of Delft.
We liked mostly everything about the hotel. While it was outside the city of Delft, the shuttle bus was a great deal for 5 Euros each. It ran regularly until 5 PM & was available when we needed it. It eliminated the hassle of finding parking in the city.
We had a top floor, mini suite for our stay in Delft at the Bridges Hotel. Our room was bright and clean and it was great to be able to look over a busy canal. The staff was helpful and carried up our luggage. Just a short walk from the train station.
Convenient, modern and well located hotel. operating since 2020, so still very new. Location very close to the charming Delft old town and the railway station with good connection to Amsterdam/Schiphol, so perfect for those without the car.
The location was great a 20 min walk to Delft city centre close to the highway so easy to get to if you travel by car. The shower pressure was the best we have had and the room had aircon great for the hot weather, the staff werre friendly
Nice modern new hotel, best location close to train-tram- bus station and the charming city center; canals, parks and restaurants around the location; excellent position for exploring Delft and other cities in Holland
Great boutique hotel in the canal
Church and canal views from the room
Cozy, and at the same time spacious
Newly furbished
We got a room with great big windows overlooking the canal
Central location in Old Delft
Fantastic hotel with helpful staff. Comfortable room with great bed, fabulous breakfast and bar and wonderful staff. The history of the hotel is fascination. We give it a 10 out if 10. Stay here when in Delft!
Location was excellent. Current road works made the getting to the hotel a little difficult. The Hotel is impressive and overlooks the canals - overall a very good place to stay to explore Delft
The Student Hotel was located in the center of Delft in front of the bus and train station. The rooms were spacious, well designed and the beds were quite comfortable.
