Nice very welcoming humans away from touristic path. Very historical. You can ask at chez Ali about guides like Abdelhad or Molay Mustapha to show you around. Not far from desert. Very rich of history and culture of Morocco. Very special and unique.

No decent size shops not even a proper supermarket eg Carrefour. Can be difficult if not speak French or Arabic . Lots of beggars and sad sights like a man scavenging in bins. Dry and hot and dusty. Zagora is the gate to the Sahara desert.
Zagora is the gate to the Sahara desert. The village itself has a lot of nice bars, restaurants and hotels, and is the starting point for guided tours in the desert, all or not on a dromedary, all or not with an overnight stay in tent camps, for 1 or more days. Next to that, Zagora has twice a week a very big local market (Wednesday and Sunday) that is a must to experience! Further down the N9 you can find the small town Tamegroute, famous for its artisanal green pottery. Also a must to stop there and see the 7 families at work outside.

The Riad is located quiet in the center and we got an authentic impression of the city as there were almost no tourists. The host was really nice to us and available for any kind of request. We highly recommend the breakfast which was freshly cooked in the morning and it was a LOT of stuff! One of the best breakfasts we had in Marocco. Spacious apartment with an en suite bathroom, a cute little balcony looking on the main street of Zagora, and a delicious breakfast served in the restaurant downstairs. The owner mr Mustafa and his son Redwane took real good care of us and gave us excellent tips on things to do and see. Free wifi and street parking. The highlight of our time here was the impromptu staff music show that was put on which was great and highly entertaining. Breakfasts are great too! The Riad is a short drive out of Zagora town centre
