The food was amazing! The space was nice, both interior and garden. Hosts were very helpful, for example helping us figure out transportation to our next location (they even paid for one of our taxis without us realizing it!).

We had a fantastic stay at this huge, traditional Japanese home in Oshino. The house can easily hold 10+ people comfortably, so we had more than enough space for our group of four (one couple took upstairs and the other downstairs). And the traditional style (tatami mats, sliding doors, floor futons, floor tables with heaters (katatsu), and Japanese artwork and decorations) made us feel we were having a true authentic experience. But the biggest highlight was the impressive view of Mt. Fuji from both floors on a clear day. It was so nice to open the side doors and enjoy the view in the fresh air from the comfort of home. In addition to these major points, the house was also equipped with other amenities that made our stay enjoyable (plenty of electrical outlets to plug in your devices; a well-stocked kitchen with an abundances of dishes, cooking utensils and seating; plenty of bathroom space, with three toilets, two urinals, and two shower rooms with tubs; and heaters in every room to keep warm on those chilly Spring nights).
The house is run by a local family and we couldn't have asked for better hosts. They gave us a thorough tour of the house when we arrived, left lots of snacks for us in the kitchen (including beer, soft drinks, and fruit), and offered multiple times to drive us around the area to see the sites. It was actually very convenient to have that offer since we traveled there without a car and they helped us get to the train and bus stations. They also offered to call restaurants and the taxi service to make reservations since we don't speak much Japanese. Overall, they made us feel like family during our stay.
The area where the house is located is a gem. It's bustling with tourists and food stalls during the day, but super quiet at night, as most tourists spend the night elsewhere.

Located in a forest, facing Mount Fuji. A car is needed because the house is remote. We were a family of five, everything about the house was excellent. The view, it was spotless clean, the kitchen well equipped for cooking, comfortable beds. Very spacious.
We loved it and would highly recommend.

I personally loved the Japanese style rooms, however one member of our party found it quite uncomfortable, and the opportunity to wear a yukata throughout the hotel was lovely. They also have a small selection of amenities just in front of the lifts where it's a help-yourself style set of drawers (this is where you find the yukata). The food served for breakfast was fantastic! We actually went up for a second helping. The location is lovely with a view of Mt fuji just behind the building so if you're lucky enough to get a room on that side you'll be in for a treat. It's only a 15min walk to the bus station (the hotel has a shuttle till 10am for guests or they can hold your luggage till 3pm) and a 20min walk to Lake Kawaguchiko however for views of Mt Fuji from the lake you have to walk to the North side which can add on another 15/20mins. The on-site onsen was lovely with men-only and women-only baths, I only managed to go once but it was very relaxing.
The staff were all very friendly and helpful from the moment we walked in.

Oshino mura is the authentic rural Japan, a small village in beautiful countryside with culture (Hakkei garden) and a relaxing spa (Sakana koen). There are good bus connections to the Fuji railway at Fujisan station and to lakes Yamanaka and Yamaguchi, although riding Japanese local buses requires some reading and understanding knowledge of Japanese. This is the perfect base for hikes up Mt. Fuji and through the area, and Fujiyoshida is a bustling little town with lots of businesses and restaurants. The best place to stay is Fujitomita inn.
