The hotel is 5 min walking distance from the beach and the same distance to subway station, two very popular and decent restaurants (bills & double door). Room is spacious with great view of the island and extremely quiet. I've stayed at the hotel for two nights and everything is just perfect. Hope to return to Kamakura soon.

1. LOVE the proximity to shops like Muji, pharmaceutical store (just opposite), bookstore, post office, train station, supermarket etc.
2. Lovely room amenities with eye mask and leg patches provided! First time encountering a hotel giving these items as part of their amenity kit.
3. Love that the room also has 6 bottles for 3 pax! Very generous with their water.
4. The staff are very attentive, polite and accommodating, very good! This time around, I messaged the property via booking.com's messaging system for some special requests around Mar 2024. I didn't get a reply from them and was too busy to follow up. As it happens, the hotel missed out on my special request. Interestingly, the staff who checked us in, Ms. Satomaki, read my messages and to make up for it, she gave us a present from the hotel, so sweet of them.
5. Love that Muji is connected to the hotel and served breakfast albeit at a steep price of $30. We didn't have the hotel's Muji breakfast as there are other options nearby.
6. The main shopping street is just across the road

This is a very special place indeed. The staff are so friendly and helpful with anything you need. The rooms are luxurious and really make you feel like you are staying somewhere special. The food is Michelin quality and I highly recommend you make dinner reservations, it was some of the best food we had in Japan.

The location is excellent, surrounded by shops, restaurants, and cafes. It's a short walk to the beach and even closer to the train station, making transportation convenient. The complimentary night snack was a thoughtful touch, and the provided pyjamas were both comfortable and cute, making the room feel like home. Speaking of which, the room was spacious, adding to the comfort of our stay. Though I didn't use it, the manga library in the lobby was a cool, unique feature. I could stay here again for sure!

Hasadera temple is a must see, especially during spring or autumn. In addition we visited Enoshima at dusk. Per end of november they have the whole garden and tower covered with small lights. When the weather allows you can see Mt Fuji in sunset. A hidden gem is Zeniarai Benten shrine. It is a natural spring tucked away between jagged rocks in a little valley. Legend goes that if you wash your money in the spring, it will multiply.

One should check one's room at check-in. Ours was definitely under-equipped: no chairs, no reading light, no handle in bathtub, very limited storage space for clothes, dangerous change in floor level. Otherwise, a very attractive hotel: nice patio and restaurant, beautiful landscaping, etc.

We loved our day in Kamakura!
We loved our day in Kamakura! Our hotel (Kamakura Prince Hotel) overlooked both the sea and Mt Fuji which was incredible. We used the Enoden to get around but mostly walked. We ate lunch by the beach, visited Kotoku-in and even went inside the Buddha (so interesting to see what it looked like inside!), then took a walking trail to Zeniarai Benten shrine which was beautiful. We didn't get to go to Enoshima unfortunately, but had a lovely time aside from that!

Nice area with some tourist attractions - but most of the touristy parts are around Kamakura station. If you go up to see the Buddha and Hase Temple, there are less tourist-style shops despite being the main attractions of the area. The tourist shops around Kamakura itself are nice but the same fare you get in the rest of Japan - cute textile items made in Japan, yukatas, 'instabae' cafes and matsuri-style food.
I would personally say the Great Buddha is somewhat underwhelming, but Hasedera is one of the loveliest temples I've been to in Japan.
It's easy to get between Kamakura and Hase using the Enoshima electric railway, and there are several beaches in the area. We personally went to Yuigahama which seemed like a nice family beach - drinking alcohol isn't allowed - unlike Enoshima beach, which is often full of drunk young people. I am often a young drunk person too, but the types of people at Enoshima beach are likely to get drunk and try to 'nanpa' (pick up) young women. Instead, Yuigahama had many families and young couples and a good security and lifeguard presence.
Along the whole coast of Kamakura and Enoshima, be careful of the birds (specifically crows and black kites) as they may try to steal food. Many crows were rifling through people's, whereas a kite stole an ice cream right out of my hand.

This very charming and picturesque old Capital of Japan is situated between mountains on one side and the beach with Enoshima island on the other side. The old history and culture is present almost everywhere with lots of beautiful buildings, temples and shrines. Ideal for a couple of days sightseeing close to Tokyo and lovely walks along the beach.
Make sure to visit Hasedera Temple, Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine and Enoshima.
Really loved the beds and facilities out of 4 hostels I've stayed during my trip to Japan this round. It's about 5-10 minutes walk from the station with a supermarket on the way. The staff were kind to lend an umbrella when requested. The bed size was really comfy, with lots of space to put some bags at the edge of the bed for a 163 cm tall person. The bunk bed structure was really sturdy and gave the privacy needed between beds as well. 10/10 will come back if I ever visit Kamakura again.
This place is unique. I was looking for a more traditional lodging with affordable price and it was a perfect match. I really enjoyed the vibe of an old Japanese house. The staff showed me around, I loved the free of charge dryer and the common space. The room felt a bit cold, but I got an extra blanket. The overall atmosphere was great, definitely an experience I would recommend to anyone while in Japan, on par with staying in a ryokan or love hotel.
The property gives you a traditional Japan vibe.
Away from the hustle and bustle and yet not far from the main city (just a 15 minute bus ride from Kamakura station), it was a wonderful stay. Equipped with a kitchen, traditional beddings, kotatsu, etc and great staff (Emi san) whom I had an excellent time conversing with, if you want an affordable and an amazing place to stay for your visit to Kamakura, I’d definitely recommend Kamakura guest house!
Even if we came early, the owner welcomed us with a large smile, which is quite unusual! (Even when showing up later in small/traditional hotels in Japan, as an expat family we are used to concerned looks...)
They have good pillows (no beads), which we don't see very often!
At the end of our stay, he offered to take a photo of us in a key spot of the little hotel, and it will remain a great souvenir of our stay in this traditional ryokan.
It is the perfect place to stay in Kamakura. 90 year old traditional Japanese house which is well preserved and very cute and cosy. Rooms are too cosy amd charming. The main sitting area allowed all of us to sit together and chat with host and other guest. Very lively and we made friends. English friendly. The host Bushi is Samurai is too fun. The experiance we had here was the best.
Close to beach and kamakura station and CAFES
Super friendly staff -- Hide will happily recommend activities in the area. He came prepared to answer questions I had about train station luggage storage and local bike rental. Clean, well maintained property, and fantastic location. Quiet neighborhood in short walking distance to a convenience store and the ocean.
Perfect for a solo traveler spending a few nights in Kamakura and the surrounding area.
* the house looks traditional and the common area has a japanese style interior (tatami mats, short-legged tables). There is a water dispenser for hot or cold water, as well as free coffee and tea.
* the owner is really friendly, helpful and has some good recommendations.
* the guesthouse was very clean and had a nice, calm atmosphere. It is close to the beach and some nice pancake-cafè.
The corner room we had was spacious and had large windows so we could see the goings to and fro of Kamakura. The room was modern and clean. A delight to stay in. The beds were very comfortable. The location was brilliant- right in the middle of Kamakura. The water pressure in the shower was amazing and a Japanese bathroom with bath and stool, was a delight.
This is a very special place indeed. The staff are so friendly and helpful with anything you need. The rooms are luxurious and really make you feel like you are staying somewhere special. The food is Michelin quality and I highly recommend you make dinner reservations, it was some of the best food we had in Japan.
The pictures of this hotel did not do it justice. Garden and grounds were exceptional, and it was one of the most beautiful rooms we stayed in during our trip and the lack of a TV was hardly a bother. Hotel staff were great to us and the close proximity to both the train station and best street market was perfect.
Everything, the staff are lovely and the place is modern and spotless. A beautiful little room, close to Ofuna Station. The breakfast buffet is glorious, I tried it out first abd loved it so much I bought another breakfast the day after. All foreigners should try Japanese breakfast!
The owner Kimie san’s hearty welcome gave me a time of feeling at home. The location is good for you to enjoy a day in Kamakura at your own pace. The breakfast is served in traditional Japanese style and really nice. By staying at her B&B you can help Kimie san’s Children’s cafe.
Amazing guest house!! So friendly, it was the best stay on my trip so far. The staff is super kind and welcoming, the house is a beautiful old Japanese house and the beach is just down the street.
What more could you ask for?
Breakfast was one of the best (Japanese traditional food), and my little daughter liked everything! The beach is located 10 minutes walk on foot. Overall a very convenient place to go with a family!
Super easy check-in. The host was quick to respond and when we left jewelry at the place, he overnighted it to our next hotel which was SO nice. It's one block from the beach. Such a great stay.
