Location is very convenient. Car park with reasonable price is available. Staff is so friendly and willing to help although we cant speak Japanese. We think we made the right choice for this trip to Fukushima.

Toyoko Inn Fukushima eki Nishi guchi is located in Fukushima, within 16 miles of Nihonmatsu Station and 30 miles of Koriyama Station.

I’ve stayed at several Toyoko Inns in different parts of Japan. It’s a good, reliable, inexpensive and clean hotel. Gets the job done if you just need a place to sleep, conveniently close to the train station. A simple breakfast is included. Sometimes there are 2 Toyoko Inns, one on each side of the station, so make sure you go to the right one! Convenient stores are nearby. Friendly staff. As a bonus, Toyoko Inn usually has a few books in their hotel rooms that book lovers may enjoy (I am one of them). For those of you interested in eating Kitakata ramen, I asked the tourism office, and the staff said while there is no Kitakata ramen shop in Fukushima City, a ramen shop called 麺や うから家か serves ramen very similar to Kitakata ramen. I tried it and was really good.

After my positive first experience with an APA Hotel in Takasaki, I was glad to find that the level of quality and convenience was consistent here too. The room was clean, the public onsen was nice, the staff were friendly, and the location couldn't be more convenient.

    The town is a very old town (Iizaka Onsen) and it was nice to take a stroll around and see all the shrines, however you can do this all in a matter of 2 hours. We also went in the odd season so our experience may have been different that the usual.

    Fukushima city itself is quite uninspiring but it is a good place to go from to reach Goshiki-numa, the surrounding mountains (which are beautiful) and Aomori and Sendai both of which have incredible natural landscapes to see. Renting a car is an absolute necessity, car rental places are almost right outside the station, book in advance ideally.

    Tsuchiyu Onsen Town is a fantastic, beautiful, friendly host spring town in the mountains of Fukushima. It is a wonderful place to relax, soak, hike, explore and meet fabulously friendly locals! I had an absolutely brilliant time and was greeted with kindness everywhere I went. I want to go back and experience it in every season. I'm already looking forward to my next trip. The only tough thing was leaving!
