Very friendly and welcoming staff who gave us a lot of tips. The breakfast was amazing, and the room was comfy and clean. We'd definitely come again.
Located on western Iceland’s Snaefellsnes Peninsula, this former fish processing factory has been converted into a professional theater and artsy hostel. Free WiFi access is available throughout.

This is an amazing place. I run an arts center in the US and was intrigued that this remote arts center in Iceland also had a hostel and rooms to rent so we gave it a try. It's out toward the end of the beautiful Snæfellsnes peninsula and national park. It was also less than 10 minutes away from the whale watching tour we took out of Olafsvik, which is not to be missed. We stayed in one of their rooms that had a full bed and bunkbeds and our own bathroom. It was really comfortable and there was a great common area with a bar and all kinds of board games. Our room was off the theater and that night locals were watching a football match between Iceland and the Ukraine; much to their chagrin, Iceland lost. If you're looking for a unique place to stay and you want to support the local arts scene, this is your place!

This is one of the cutest and neatest places I’ve ever stayed. My partner and I had a great time reading all of the recipes on the wall and looking through the extensive amount of books. We loved that it felt very cozy and private, and we were still near the national park and other stops on our trip. I cannot recommend this place enough!

The position and the view are wonderful. the flat and kitchen was perfect
Place and people are nice,
the right position to visit Snaefellsjokull National Park and the west of the peninsula.
There are no easily accessible restaurants and shops, you have to provide all your supplies.
In the hostel, you have a nice functional kitchen, refrigerator, and a small bar to buy drinking and snacks: light beverages, juices, potato chips, and smarties. To find milk, bread, and food, you have to wait for the day after, at the nearest shop with a minimum 15 km run. Once you organize yourself, life is comfortable, and friend are nice.

Small, quiet town along the water near the tip of the Snaefellsnes Peninsula. It is quite beautiful in the area with sites nearby. The location is great if you are spending two days touring the peninsula. The murals are fun to view but that's about all there is to do in the town itself.

We were trying to find a hotel close to the Snaefellsjokull Nat'l Park. Now that we have been there, we would opt for staying on Olafsvik (with 2 restaurants for dinner) or go to other side of park at Hellnar or Arnarstapi.
Hellissandur didn't have much going on, except Gilbakki Kaffihus is very nice for mid-morning snack, lunch or afternoon break. Very nice people.

I went to climb Snæfellsjökull, a 30 year ambition. Weather was horid, glad to not be spending the next 300 year as part of a glacier. Lets say it was an exciting day and not for those without experience with Ice weapons.
What a treat!
The house itself is insolite, used to be a bar, a grocery shop and later turned into e guesthouse.
Generous and homey spacing and a beautiful flow, you enter from the street to the dining room then to the bedroom and then out on the terrace overviewing the ocean.
The monocular on the terrace was a welcomed add on from the hosts, they knew seals are just in front at low tide...
The cold beers in the fridge were also a nice touch ;)
Loved our stay!
This is a fun, characterful and quirky self-catering apartment in a village on the end of the peninsula. Think student house with nothing matching, but it doesn't matter because you chose it and there's books to browse and swap. Take a book to leave there. We had supper in the nearby town of Ólafsvík, as the restaurants in Hellisandur were closed in the low season. The village has amazing street art.
Everything about this stay was great! The place had great vibes and was very comfortable to stay at and hangout. The staff was wonderful and were very welcoming! I ended up staying at a quiet time so had a room to my self basically, but felt very comfortable and welcomed throughout the hostel. I would definitely stay again if I came back to the area!
I loved everything about this place! The kitchen had more utensils than most people have at home, so many choices of board games, and all the books! Made you feel like you want to stay for a month to discover everything on the shelves! Such a great idea for an apartment! Do not miss a chance to get breakfast served by a real viking in RAM Iceland!
Definitely one of the highlights of our two week trip in Iceland. Edge of the world meets the comfort of modern living. Apartment is very well equipped and the view is just too good to
describe. Make sure you arrive in time to catch the sunset on the terrace! And when it gets dark, the midcentury modern living room is perfect for a cozy night in.
Beautiful, cute and quaint house. Loved staying here. Very responsive hosts. Would highly recommend! Great location to explore the peninsula. Restaurants in town were all closed for the season but we found restaurants 10 mins away and a grocery store so no problem. Loved the murals in this town also.
Great location overlooking the water in the small town of Hellissandur at the tip of the Snaefellsnes Peninsula. We did a two day trip along the peninsula from Reykjavik so this was a perfect location for the night. Enjoyed reading a book in the living room and watching the ocean.
A great and dynamic place : this bar and social center has great vibes, good beer and awesome events going on ! We were even able to meet the President of Iceland (he was there for a theatre play premiere), so definitely a night that we'll remember !
Awesome view and cute house. Best place in Iceland we've stayed in. We watched a beautiful midnight sunset and were overall satisfied. Neatly decorated and clean as well! Comfortable beds and little extra goods here and there!
This place was beyond expectations. We liked everything. The flat is beautiful and well kept. The view is amazing. We really appreciated the music and the books. Absolutely the best place we have stayed in Iceland.
The first morning we got a breakfast box for each one and it was not very good. The second morning there were more people in the hotel and breakfast was served and each person choose what to eat, much better.
It was our first experience with “no reception” arrival but it worked very well. Email received day of our arrival provided code for entry to hotel and code for room. The rooms were exceptionally clean.
Most original place we've been to in Iceland. Super nice common areas with great vibes. Although it's far from being luxurious, it has so much character and charm, it is absolutely worth staying there.
Great location with easy access to the Snæfellsnes national park. Comfortable, nice amenities like chocolates at check in. Excellent and super friendly service from Patrick at the front desk.
Anna had given us a warm welcome, helped us with our trip preperations and was the best host we could ask for!
We loved the place so much, we decided to stay one more night here
