Glen is a quiet place but has many interesting places, the beaches are really lovely, golden sand, clear water and quiet, there are also great walks all around. The folk village is well worth a visit (the café there serves lovely food) the pubs are friendly and the café on the main street serves nice food. Views are spectacular, there is a very good local woollen mill selling jumpers / jackets. The pilgrim route of St. Columba well worth investigating.

There are a range of activities available here, walking, hiking, watersports and climbing which is what we were doing. There are several loop and direct walks in the vicinity along with a number of unusual places to visit including a neolithic site and a monument to a shipwreck (near An Port). There are a number of climbing opportunities in the area including bouldering, trad climbing and sea stack climbing. Choose a good guide and professional advice if you don't have experience as some locations can be dangerous if not approached with care.

Glencolmcille is my "happy place" in Ireland.

Glencolmcille is my "happy place" in Ireland. Rugged mountains, turbulent waves, smell of turf, quiet and private... whats not to like. I ate in the Glen Head and had a seriously gut busting, delicious home made burger, fantastic, friendly young staff who didn't bat an eyelid to me asking to eat outside. Personally I. just love the views, I never tire of them, I sat eating my burger with a sneaky glass of wine and thought to myself how bloody lucky I was to be able to sit in the evening sun and watch the sunset. it's not difficult to get around Glen because once the road runs out.. that's it you are driving off the edge of Ireland. If you are on your own, just enjoy it.. go to Slieve League Cliffs in Teeling, hill walking, just chill and relax and take. lots of photos .

Glencolumbkille is a remarkably remote town sitting at what seems to be the end of the world otherwise known as Rossan Point. The town is especially notable for the Glencolumbkille Folk Village, a collection of 18th and 19th century thatched white cottages with genuine period settings. The Folk Village is closed during winter months so it might be best to visit before the end of September. During the winter months it is best to go to Ardara or Carrick for restaurants.

Our hosts had many ideas and tips. They were interesting people. We loved the Slieve League climb. We enjoyed the woollen mill. We had a hoot at Rusty Mackeral restaurant. As we left, we went on an interesting drive to Port. Beautiful quiet spot. Isolated and lovely

Our one-night stay at John Eoinìn's Bar and Accommodation was delightful. The rooms are newly built and boast a modern design, providing a comfortable and pleasant environment. We particularly enjoyed the convenience of having the restaurant and pub located downstairs. What truly made our experience memorable was the warm hospitality extended to us. We were graciously invited to join in the celebration of a staff member's 50th birthday, instantly making us feel like part of the community.

The accommodation is a well maintained and tastefully decorated house in an excellent location close to 'must visit' places in Donegal. It has all you need to feel at home. Everything is in a great condition. The welcome basket is above expectations: a homemade bread, milk, eggs, butter, tea, coffee, sugar, cereals and oat porridge. Margaret is a friendly and caring host who is always happy to give a hand. Can't recommend enough!

If you are visiting Glencolmcille or Southwest Donegal in general, Ionad Súil is in a fantastic location. Beside the main village of Glencolmcille and also a short stroll to the beach and Folk Village museum. Very clean and lots of space. Would highly recommend it. Facilities are fantastic. The TV even had the sports channels! Thanks to all the staff who were very helpful during our stay.

Incredibly cosy b&b in Glencolmcille. Nicest hosts we’ve had in Ireland. Really good value for money. Refurbished, clean and stylish rooms with ensuite bathroom. Included a full irish breakfast or pancakes, with cereals fruit and juices option. A pity that our stay was only one night. Great conversation and tips from the owners. 10/10

I really enjoyed my stay here. The rooms are very clean, comfortable and the cooked breakfast was excellent. The host Leon was very helpful in providing brochures on the area. He also offered and gave a lift into town in the evening, as the location is remote. I will certainly book here again when I come back to this part of Ireland.

The property is a perfect location for exploring the raw beauty of the Northwest Donegal coastline. Leon and Gillian are fantastic hosts, so knowledgeable and helpful with tips on what to do in the area. It was a most enjoyable trip and we have already booked our return trip for next year.

For us the Silver Strand Chalets were perfect. The hosts provided lots of information before arrival & were unobtrusive. The accommodation is high end with great attention to detail, spotlessly clean & within a stone’s throw of the beautiful Malin Beg beach.
