Remote location but with lots of history to see.
Remote location but with lots of history to see. Our tour of nearby Tidore island was interesting. We also a couple of Dutch forts and spice markets. Ternate was the starting place for our cruise in the area.

We came there to go snorkeling in Ternate and spots in the surrounding areas. We were not disappointed. But fresh water is not always available, particularly in the other islands, so be prepared. The streets are smoothly paved, but narrow. Sometime rather tight. Best to be driven rather than driving by yourself.

Blue sky, blue sea, fresh seafood with affordable price, lovely islands and beaches to visit, relaxed atmosphere, awesome places to dive. It’s a totally lovely place to visit. Take some time to go to Jikomalamo Beach for awesome sunset watching and snorkeling in one of the best rose coral spot in Indonesia. Go to Pantai Fitu or Danau Ngade to witness a spectacular sunrise. Have delicious seafood buffet lunch at Royal Restaurant. Go for grilled tuna head dinner at Bagdad Cafe. Visit Maitara island to sample their one of a kind coconut. Drop by Hiri Island to see Mawar the friendly dugong and enjoy probably the cleanest village in East Indonesia. Sea, sand, sun, seafood are the things to do in Ternate.
